About the Company The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft on Airbus Way opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015. It produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019, as part of Airbus' strategy to meet growing customer needs in the United States and beyond. Role Overview The Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an A220 Flightline Mechanic in Mobile, Alabama. The Flightline Mechanic performs Functional Test Procedures (FTP) and pre- and post-flight inspections to prepare built aircraft for test flight and delivery readiness. This includes operating, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and inspecting aircraft systems using approved aircraft data, operating a wide variety of test equipment and tooling, and interpreting technical manuals, drawings and engineering data. Assigned tasks must be completed within the allocated man-hour budget and meet safety, quality and cost requirements. Meet the Team The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities assembles aircraft along two production lines, soon to be three, for the A220 and A320 Family. On the shop floor you work alongside people skilled in electrical, structure and quality who are passionate about aviation. Key Responsibilities Perform aircraft system Final Test Procedure (FTP), pre- and post-flight checklists and Daily Inspections (DI) to prepare built aircraft for test flight readiness. Learn new tasks and techniques for troubleshooting aircraft systems and support flight line operations at the Airbus FAL Mobile flight line organisation. Troubleshoot malfunctions and rig, repair and replace aircraft structures, components and systems of moderate difficulty, including landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, ventilation, heating and cooling systems, and mechanical and cabin interior components. Service and repair aircraft and prepare documentation in line with company procedures and specifications. Perform post-dock maintenance daily checklists, safety and security checks and incoming inspections. Perform day-to-day planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance. Contribute actively to developing and improving system troubleshooting skills across the family. Carry out refuel and defuel, aircraft jacking and towing, and other aircraft services including hydraulic and engine oil servicing and servicing of tyres and struts, handling hazardous material in line with policy. Prepare, seal and test using a thorough knowledge of aircraft sealing techniques and sealant characteristics such as storage, application, tack-free and cure times. Participate in process improvement, root cause analysis, 5S and other tools to improve workload, quality and safety and to reduce cycle time. Take part in the team's daily SQCDP project and daily tool and FOD management. Support and train other aircraft technicians, and maintain a close working relationship with the assigned lead on schedules, priorities, availability of parts, supplies and tools, and special instructions. Licences & Qualifications Licence: valid A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) licence. Valid driver's licence. High school diploma or a vocational / technical school credential. Licences for equipment such as crane, cherry picker, fork lift, lifting platform and loading platform, as required for the work. Experience Minimum 3 years of aviation experience, preferably in an aviation manufacturing or repair environment. 3 or more years of experience in a flight line environment under FAA, EASA or TCCA regulations. Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft-specific tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers and powered and non-powered support equipment. Ability to read and interpret approved aircraft diagrams, charts, schematics and maintenance procedures such as FTP, WO, AMM, IPC, AWD, SB and CMM. Basic computer skills: email, Google tools and data entry. Requirements Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Hold or be able to obtain a valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to Canada. Ability to work in confined spaces, at height and in outdoor conditions, and under stressful conditions given the degree of responsibility. Knowledge of OSHA regulations on confined space entry, respiratory protection and correct use of personal protective equipment, fall protection and hazardous communications. Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and written instructions, and oral and written communication sufficient to prepare reports and discuss equipment malfunctions.
