**The Sheriff's Office defines vertical reference as: The use of a belly mounted cargo hook to carry loads on a 100+ foot long sling, with you, the pilot, being fully responsible for the safe and accurate placement of the load while looking straight down below the helicopter at the load, and placing it in oftentimes precise positions without any assistance from another member of your crew. Please note that the skills required to perform vertical reference/long-line is very different than hoist operations.

Join Our Team 
 
Working closely with unit crew members to complete unit missions (law enforcement, search and rescue, medical evacuations, and fire suppression operations), the Sheriff's Helicopter Pilot pilots the aircraft in safe manner consistent with Sheriff's Office policy and law. To complete these missions, shifts may include weekends and holidays. Additional responsibilities include:

	<li>Identifying aircraft maintenance needs and collaborating with maintenance provider</li>
	<li>Maintaining knowledge and familiarity with FAA and Sheriff's Office policies</li>

Henry 1 and the crew are based out of the Charles M. Schultz (Sonoma County) Airport in Santa Rosa, work a 7 on/ 7 off schedule, are compensated for stand-by and overtime hours, and on-call during their work week when not at the hangar. 
 
As a technical, non-peace officer position in the Sheriff's Office the Pilot reports to, and is responsible for assisting, the Sergeant in charge of the Helicopter Unit. The unit consists of a Sergeant (Supervisor), tactical flight officers (Deputies), two helicopter pilots, and several extra-help paramedics. Additional pilots and paramedics may be hired on an extra-help basis to augment the crew. Incumbents in this class will serve a one-year probationary period. The Civil Service title of this position is Helicopter Pilot.

Minimum Qualifications 
 
Experience and Education: Any combination of education, training, and experience that clearly demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities for the position. Normally, this would include graduation from high school or an acceptable equivalent certificate, and 2,000 hours of turbine helicopter Pilot-in-Command time, which includes 300 hours of mountain flying, 100 hours of night flying, and 200 hours of precision vertical reference long line flying. 
 
License and Certificate: Possession of a valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Airman Certificate with rotorcraft-helicopter rating or a valid FAA Airline Transport Pilot's Certificate with a rotorcraft-helicopter rating; possession of a valid and current Class II Airman's Medical Certificate issued by an FAA authorized medical examiner; possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including necessary special endorsements, as required by the State of California to perform the essential job functions of the position. 
 
Other Requirements: Applicants must successfully complete a thorough background investigation prior to appointment including a polygraph test; emergency operations may require working 16 hour shifts under difficult conditions such as fire and floods.

The QRC Airborne ISR Systems Division of the Airborne Solutions Group of Leidos currently has an opening for a UH-60A/L/M Blackhawk Instructor Pilot supporting the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program in Marana, AZ. Leidos is the prime contractor providing flight training, simulation training, classroom instruction and schoolhouse support activities including the One Army School System (OASS) integration, and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) maintenance for platforms and simulation devices in use or anticipated to be in use by the Army National Guard. 
 
What's in it for you' 
This individual will join our team in support of AATS assigned UH-60 A/L and M, UH-72A, and CH-47F aircraft and instructor qualification courses, readiness level progressions, regional and foreign military training. The selected Instructor Pilot will conduct associated Instructor Operator tasks and platform academic instruction in support of the AATS student training mission. Candidates will accomplish all training in accordance with AR 95-1, TRADOC Programs of Instruction (POI), CH-47 UH-60 / UH-72 dATM and local AATS SOPs. All contractor Instructor Pilots will adhere to prescribed requirements IAW DCMA INST 8210-1C. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience supporting the ATSOS program. 
 
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities) 

<ul>
	<li>Maintain training records on formal course students and in ATP records as required for unit, readiness level (RL) progression trainees.</li>
	<li>Provide instruction and evaluation to student pilots IAW Training Support Packages for AATS approved courses of instruction.</li>
	<li>Conduct daily academic instruction of approved POI (Aircraft Qualification Course, Instructor Pilot Course, Aircraft Standardization Course, Maintenance Test Pilot Course).</li>
	<li>Facilitate pre-mission planning and after-action reviews for all flights and simulation periods conducted.</li>
	<li>Complete all aircrew training program (ATP) requirements IAW DCMA INST 8210-1C, AR 95-1, and the applicable dATM. Contract pilot shall participate in No-notice evaluation program.</li>
	<li>Coordinate daily tasks and requirements (examples are work schedules, leaves, etc.) of contract employees to meet AATS missioned training requirements and schoolhouse accreditation as directed by AATS chains of command.</li>
	<li>Responsible for compliance with appropriate Army, National Guard and AATS policies, procedures and regulations.</li>
	<li>Coordinate with the GFR to ensure all contractors are qualified to perform aviation-training tasks IAW DCMA INST 8210.1D</li>

WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications) 

<ul>
	<li>High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years' experience; or a Bachelors Degree and 8 years' experience; or a Masters degree and 6 years' experience</li>
	<li>Instructor Pilot experience with minimum of 250 military IP Flight Hours and/or 2 yrs IP experience at any USAACE approved or OASS accredited program. Flight time and operational experience, will be considered to meet experience stated above based on a records review by the GFR IAW DCMA INST 8210-1C.</li>
	<li>USAACE/AATS (or equivalent Army approved NET) qualified IP in type aircraft for which duties will be performed.</li>
	<li>Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualified; or successfully graduate from a AATS provided ABIC course within 12 months of contractor employee start date.</li>
	<li>FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.</li>
	<li>FAA Second Class flight physical required. Army Contractor pilots have the option of maintaining either an annual FAA Second Class Medical Certificate or an Army Class 2 FDME (DCMA 8210.1C, para 4.3.5.1.2).</li>
	<li>Experience as an SP, IE and/or IP in a OASS school, MTOE or TDA organization at the company and/or battalion level.</li>

Leidos currently has an opening for a UH-60A/L/M Blackhawk Instructor Pilot supporting the Army National Guard (ANG) Aviation Training Services and Operational Support (ATSOS) program in Marana, AZ. Leidos is the prime contractor providing flight training, simulation training, classroom instruction and schoolhouse support activities including the One Army School System (OASS) integration, and Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) maintenance for platforms and simulation devices in use or anticipated to be in use by the Army National Guard. 
 
What's in it for you' 
This individual will join our team in support of AATS assigned UH-60 A/L and M, UH-72A, and CH-47F aircraft and instructor qualification courses, readiness level progressions, regional and foreign military training. The selected Instructor Pilots will conduct associated Instructor Operator tasks and platform academic instruction in support of the AATS student training mission. Candidates will accomplish all training in accordance with AR 95-1, TRADOC Programs of Instruction (POI), CH-47 UH-60 / UH-72 dATM and local AATS SOPs. All contractor Instructor Pilots will adhere to prescribed requirements IAW DCMA INST 8210-1C. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience supporting the ATSOS program. 
 
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities) 

<ul>
	<li>Maintain training records on formal course students and in ATP records as required for unit, readiness level (RL) progression trainees.</li>
	<li>Provide instruction and evaluation to student pilots IAW Training Support Packages for AATS approved courses of instruction.</li>
	<li>Conduct daily academic instruction of approved POI (Aircraft Qualification Course, Instructor Pilot Course, Aircraft Standardization Course, Maintenance Test Pilot Course).</li>
	<li>Facilitate pre-mission planning and after-action reviews for all flights and simulation periods conducted.</li>
	<li>Complete all aircrew training program (ATP) requirements IAW DCMA INST 8210-1C, AR 95-1, and the applicable dATM. Contract pilot shall participate in No-notice evaluation program.</li>
	<li>Coordinate daily tasks and requirements (examples are work schedules, leaves, etc.) of contract employees to meet AATS missioned training requirements and schoolhouse accreditation as directed by AATS chains of command.</li>
	<li>Responsible for compliance with appropriate Army, National Guard and AATS policies, procedures and regulations.</li>
	<li>Coordinate with the GFR to ensure all contractors are qualified to perform aviation-training tasks IAW DCMA INST 8210.1D</li>
	<li>Report Instructor Flight and Operation data in the Task Order Monthly Report.</li>

WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications) 

<ul>
	<li>High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years' experience; or a Bachelors Degree and 8 years' experience; or a Masters degree and 6 years' experience</li>
	<li>Instructor Pilot experience with minimum of 250 military IP Flight Hours and/or 2 yrs IP experience at any USAACE approved or OASS accredited program. Flight time and operational experience, will be considered to meet experience stated above based on a records review by the GFR IAW DCMA INST 8210-1C.</li>
	<li>USAACE/AATS (or equivalent Army approved NET) qualified IP in type aircraft for which duties will be performed.</li>
	<li>Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualified; or successfully graduate from a AATS provided ABIC course within 12 months of contractor employee start date.</li>
	<li>FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.</li>
	<li>FAA Second Class flight physical required. Army Contractor pilots have the option of maintaining either an annual FAA Second Class Medical Certificate or an Army Class 2 FDME (DCMA 8210.1C, para 4.3.5.1.2).</li>
	<li>Experience as an SP, IE and/or IP in a OASS school, MTOE or TDA organization at the company and/or battalion level.</li>
	<li>Instrument Flight Examiners (IE), Standardization Instructor Pilots (SP), Instructor Pilots (IP), and Maintenance Evaluators (ME) designations apply only to contractor pilots (Army) contracted for the sole purpose of conducting aircraft qualification training and administration of the Aircrew Training Program (ATP). Contractor pilots in these designated positions shall meet all Army initial aircraft qualifications and recurrent training requirements per AR 95-1 and the applicable aircraft Digital Aircrew Training Module (dATM) (DCMA 8210.1C, para 4.3.4.3).</li>
	<li>Must meet instructor qualification requirements IAW TR 350-10, TR 350-70.</li>
	<li>Contractors performing flight operations in the role of Rated Crewmember (Instructor Pilot, Instrument Flight Examiner, Standardization Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Test Pilot, Functional Check Pilot) or Non-Rated Crewmember (Flight Engineer Instructor, Flight Instructor, Crew Chief) shall adhere to minimum qualifications as prescribed by DCMA INST 8210.1C.</li>
	<li>All contractor Rated Crewmembers and Non-Rated Crewmembers will receive ACT-E qualification and sustainment training IAW TC 3-04.11.</li>
	<li>Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.</li>
</ul>

Duties include, but are not limited to:

	<li>Operate a police helicopter in support of patrol missions involving fleeing suspects, missing persons, and all scenarios supporting on ground patrol function</li>

Key Responsibilities

	<li>Responsible for operating their assigned aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, in strict compliance with the operational standards and all applicable regulations;</li>
