About the Company Airbus Asia Training Centre Pte. Ltd. in Singapore trains airline crews from international customers on Airbus aircraft types. Role Overview The Type Rating Instructor (TRI) / Type Rating Examiner (TRE) is responsible for instructing and/or checking airline crew converting to Airbus on all operational, technical and performance aspects for a specific type or types. The contract is based in Singapore; commuting is not possible. The instructor/examiner also assists the Head of Training with other training-related duties when assigned, conducts flight and simulator training for various international customers, and represents Airbus in front of operators and authorities. The role offers the opportunity to work with different teams worldwide and to develop expertise in various fields and roles, including management and project positions. Key Responsibilities Instruct airline crew converting to Airbus on all operational and technical aspects for a specific type or types using flight training devices, fixed base simulators, full flight simulators, aircraft and lecture rooms, ensuring their capability to carry out safely and correctly all normal and emergency procedures required by airworthiness authorities. Conduct theoretical training for type-rating courses, flight operations courses and aircraft performance. Adhere to Airbus standard policy and standardisation as required by Flight Development and Flight Standardisation & Policy. Instruct and/or check crews within the defined time limits and evaluate crews' progression. Decide, if required, on the necessity of extra training to achieve the required level of proficiency and competence defined in the training objectives. Conduct base training for airline crew on applicable Airbus aircraft. Conduct line training (Initial Operating Experience, IOE) for airline crew on applicable Airbus aircraft. Conduct aircraft type rating skill tests, licence proficiency checks or operator proficiency checks on applicable Airbus aircraft types. Participate in the review or development of training programmes as assigned by the Head of Training. Conduct assessments of instructors and standardisation duties if appointed as an Airbus Standardizer. Maintain a high level of airmanship to teach in a multicultural environment. Assist with flight training audits and Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) fly-outs and qualifications. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Head of Training. Licences & Qualifications Licence: EASA ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence). Medical: EASA Class 1 medical certificate. Valid EASA type rating on the relevant Airbus aircraft type. Valid unrestricted EASA instructor certificate on the relevant Airbus aircraft type (LIFUS or landing training). A valid EASA examiner certificate on the relevant Airbus aircraft type is a plus. Hold or have held a Low Visibility Operations qualification (at least one autoland in an Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft as Captain). Hold or have held an ETOPS approval qualification. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed the Airbus Pilot Instructor Course (APIC). Experience Minimum 8,000 hours as a pilot. Minimum 5,000 hours on large jet aircraft. Minimum 2,500 hours as Captain on Airbus aircraft. Minimum 1,500 hours on Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft types. Minimum 500 hours as Captain or instructor assigned to conduct LIFUS (Line Flying Under Supervision) / IOE. Evidence-Based Training / Competency-Based Training assessment expertise is a plus. Requirements Fluent in English with a minimum English Language Proficiency rating of 5 in order to communicate with all trainees. Requirements
