About the Company The Airbus Type Rating Instructor / Examiner (TRI/TRE) belongs to the Airbus Europe Training Centre (AETC) Training department based in Blagnac, near Toulouse. The TRI/TRE represents Airbus in front of operators and in front of the authorities, works with teams across the world, and has opportunities to develop expertise in various fields and roles, including management and project positions. Role Overview The TRI/TRE conducts flight training and simulator training for various international customers. The TRI/TRE reports directly to the Head of TRI/TRE in the Flight Crew Training organisation at Airbus Training Centre Europe and belongs to the execution department. Key Responsibilities Act as TRI/TRE for Airbus. Conduct line training and line checking for Airbus. Conduct simulator training and simulator checking for Airbus, mainly in Toulouse. Support the TFOS community (Training & Flight Ops Support) and support office activities on demand. Deliver the best possible training and checking within the scope of the qualifications held, to ensure safe and efficient entry into service and operation of Airbus aircraft, both in flight (Initial Operating Experience) and in the simulator. Work on different projects on demand within the TFOS framework. Represent the Airbus ATO and the manufacturer in front of the customer. Support the customer, especially during the flight period, to ensure entry into service and safety. Take a proactive role in identifying potential problems and finding solutions. Act as team leader during Initial Operating Experience, coordinating with the Airbus team and with the airline. Ensure standardisation, development and management tasks throughout the career within Airbus. Maintain and upgrade competences in line with the qualifications held. Requirements Significant commercial airline experience. Evidence-based training / competency-based training assessment expertise is required. Project management minded; managerial experience is a plus; experience in flight safety is a plus. The contract is based in Blagnac near Toulouse and commuting is not possible. Three years in a row must be spent in the execution department; after the first three years there are possibilities of mobility inside Airbus. Work pattern: a three-month cycle comprising one month of line training abroad (usually 30 days in a row) and two months prioritising simulator training with a few ferry flights. Probation period: three months minimum, renewable. Licences & Qualifications EASA ATPL licence. Valid EASA TRI on A320 plus A330/A350 LIFUS. Valid EASA Class 1 medical. Minimum English Language Proficiency rating of 4, fluent in English. Low visibility operations qualification, with at least one autoland on an Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft as Captain. Hold or have held an ETOPS qualification. Current and experienced as Captain and TRI on A320 plus A330/A350; TRE experience is a plus. On hiring, the TRI/TRE must convert the licence to the French authority (DGAC) with the support of the standardisation department. Experience Minimum 5,000 hours as a pilot. Minimum 2,000 hours on large jet aircraft. Minimum 2,500 hours as Captain on Airbus aircraft. Minimum 500 hours of instructor experience in a full flight simulator on large aircraft. Minimum 500 hours as Captain assigned to conduct LIFUS/IOE. A significant part of the instructor experience obtained must be initial type rating oriented.
