About the Company The Flight Operations department is the core of OSM Aviation Academy, located at Gullknapp Airport, Norway. In 2024 the academy helped ten flight instructors join Norwegian in Oslo; eight of them continue to work with OSM, either as flight instructors or in roles such as Head of Training or CTKI. Role Overview OSM Aviation Academy is seeking dedicated instructors to help shape the future of aviation. The OSM Flight Instructor Career Program lets you develop as both a pilot and a flight instructor. After passing the assessment you will work and instruct at the academy as both a Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (TKI) and a Flight Instructor (FI). Please note: the position is open for applications, but the academy is not actively recruiting at this time. Applications are reviewed continuously and relevant candidates are contacted for assessment as staffing needs arise. Career Program Structure Internal upgrades available as you gain experience and procedural knowledge: internal IRI course, UPRT-I course, internal CRI course and FII rating. During the second year of employment the focus is on Instrument Rated Instructor training, or other administrative tasks the academy can offer. Internal courses may be expedited depending on the candidate's background and performance. The program runs 2-3 years from employment to holding certification for all training in the ATP courses. Opportunities with partner airlines After completing your trial period, OSM facilitates an assessment with partner airlines such as Norwegian, Wideroe or Norse Atlantic Airways. Before departure you will have built a wide network, knowledge and experience, along with instructor ratings you can use later in your career. Entry without an FI(A) rating Two tracks are available for candidates joining the Career Program without an existing FI(A) rating. Track 1 - Administrative coordinator and FI rating module: a flexible, structured schedule allowing you to complete the Flight Instructor rating at OSM Aviation Academy while gaining relevant administrative experience. Duration 3-6 months depending on FI course load and work schedule, in a blended format with allocated hours for administrative tasks and FI training sessions. Track 2 - Employment proposal and FI training setup: guides you through the FI training requirements at an approved external school while preparing you to take up a flight instructor role at OSM on completion. Duration 2-4 months based on the external FI course requirements; milestone-based with support and progress check-ins with OSM to stay aligned with job offer requirements. Direct entry instructor. Financing options Option 1 - fully sponsored: OSM covers the full cost of FI training, including tuition, materials and necessary expenses, in exchange for a post-training work commitment (bond) to OSM Aviation Academy. Option 2 - partial sponsorship with bonding: OSM covers living expenses during FI training while the candidate covers the remaining costs, such as tuition and materials. Option 3 - self-sponsored: the candidate independently funds the full cost of the FI training program.
