Role Overview Eastern Air Express is growing and adding multiple aircraft to the fleet. To support this growth it is looking for contract ground instructors covering both classroom and simulator training. This vacancy is a contract position open to all who are qualified. The Contract Ground Instructor, Flight Operations, reports to the Manager of Flight Operations Training with a dotted-line report to, and close working relationship with, the Chief Pilot. The post holder interacts with captains, first officers, external vendors that provide training resources such as simulators, and at times the FAA. The role is responsible for providing the leadership and oversight necessary to ensure that captains and first officers are adequately trained, qualified and competent to perform their duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and Eastern's performance and safety goals. Key Responsibilities Adhere to guidance contained in the FAA- and company-approved training programmes for delivery and completion of the required lesson plan and assigned training event, in compliance with 14 CFR Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies. Use associated classroom, aircraft and simulator resources to deliver the required training for initial, recurrent, hazardous materials, transition and upgrade ground and simulator events. Complete and submit student training records and certifications at the end of each lesson. Ensure pilot qualification records are updated promptly so that daily pilot assignment is legal and only qualified flight crews are scheduled in the company's Flight Management System. Provide student training records to Crew Records in a timely fashion to ensure compliance with federal regulatory requirements and the Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRIA) or Pilot Records Database (PRD) where applicable. May be tasked to operate Part 91 flights to various locations, current and qualified. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot, Manager of Flight Operations Training or Director of Operations. Licences & Qualifications Airline Transport Pilot Certificate — Multiengine Land — with B737 type rating . Flight Instructor Certificate — Aircraft Multi-Engine Land — Instrument Airplane preferred. Must be 737 qualified, with detailed knowledge and understanding of flight operations training requirements for pilots. Bachelor's degree in education or a relevant aviation field preferred. Experience Three or more years of experience working in a flight operations environment using large turbojet aircraft is mandatory; international experience preferred. Previous experience as an instructor under Part 121 or Part 135 operations preferred. Results-oriented, with the ability to balance diverse and dynamic operational requirements. Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Proficient or better skills in MS PowerPoint, Excel and the MS Office suite. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills; able to work under minimal supervision, exercising independent judgement, discretion and initiative. Self-motivated with independent problem-solving ability, and able to travel out of state if needed.
