Role Overview The First Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe journey and a positive experience for all guests while continually maintaining a high level of professionalism. This is a union represented position. Key Responsibilities Perform as Second in Command in the transport of passengers, mail, freight or for other commercial purposes. Comply with Federal Aviation Regulations, company flight procedures and company policies on scheduled flights and routes to ensure safety of flight. Conduct business in a professional manner and demeanour at all times. Operate company aircraft in adherence with established Qualification Standards and all Flight Manual operating procedures and policies. Communicate with all required agencies and personnel while adhering to company communication practices. Maintain knowledge commensurate with the holder of an airline transport pilot certificate, including all aspects of the applicable FARs and the AIM. Experience Minimum of 1,500 hours of total documented flight time. Minimum of 500 hours of fixed-wing turbine time (aeroplane and powered lift combined). All aeronautical experience requirements for an ATP, aeroplane category rating, as set out in 14 CFR § 61.159. Preferred: 500 hours of multi-engine aeroplane time; 500 hours of turbine PIC time; minimum of 50 hours flown in the last 12 months; turbojet or turboprop experience in a complex flying environment. Licences & Qualifications FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Airplane rating. Current First Class FAA Medical Certificate. Current ATP written exam. Valid driver's licence issued by a US state or US territory. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate; four-year degree from an accredited university. Requirements Must hold or obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States, valid for at least six months at the time of employment. Holders of non-U.S. passports also need any appropriate travel documentation. Ability to travel immediately and repeatedly to any domestic or international location served by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Comfortable with a domicile in Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, Anchorage AK, Portland OR, San Diego CA or San Francisco CA. Excellent judgement, leadership skills, demonstrated command ability and maturity. Professional demeanour and appearance; sound judgement in decision making; composure under pressure. What We Offer Alaska seniority list pay: first year pay rate $129.71 (per contract). Monthly pay guarantee: 70 hours. Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call), 84 hours (short call).
