About the Company Sun Country Airlines offers the opportunity to fly the 737NG throughout the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska), the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe. Its business model combines scheduled airline service, charters (military, sports and event-based), cargo and a wide variety of seasonal leisure travel. The airline continues to grow in both fleet size and service. Role Overview The College Bridge Program is a structured pathway that takes students at South Dakota State University from enrolment through flight instructing to a First Officer position on the Sun Country 737NG fleet. Key Responsibilities Step 1 - Enrol: be enrolled in the designated major at South Dakota State University that includes flight training to qualify for R-ATP under FAR 61.160. Step 2 - Apply: apply for a College Bridge Program First Officer position using the "Apply Now" button on the job posting. Applicants must also: Be at least a junior or senior Hold a Commercial Certificate with Instrument and Multi-Engine Rating Attend one in-person recruiting event and complete the required initial one-to-one interview for entrance into the College Bridge Program Applicants receive an email from Pilot Hiring after completing the required one-to-one; this serves as confirmation of enrolment in the programme Step 3 - Flight Instructor position: secure a flight instructor position with South Dakota State University, holding: CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) CFII (Certified Flight Instructor Instrument) MEI (Multi-Engine Instructor) - optional Step 4 - Request a First Officer interview: Complete 300 hours of dual flight instruction in aircraft with South Dakota State University Apply online at airlineapps.com and receive the automatic confirmation email Email Sun Country Pilot Hiring to confirm the application is updated and that you wish to interview for the First Officer position; applications are then scored Selected applicants are invited to interview for a First Officer position Step 5 - Get hired: receive a Contingent Job Offer based on a successful interview and graduate with the appropriate major, including flight training, to qualify for R-ATP under FAR 61.160. Requirements Minimum qualifications to start class: Legal authorisation to work in the United States Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand English Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate FCC radio licence Valid US passport, or valid passport with Green Card, and the ability to travel to and from all cities and countries served by Sun Country Valid US driver's licence Recent flight experience preferred Experience Restricted ATP eligible - 1,000 hours minimum (aviation college background): 1,000 total hours, of which up to 100 hours may be simulator time 250 hours PIC in an airplane At least 21 years old 200 hours cross country (100 of which must be PIC cross country in an airplane) 100 hours night (25 of which must be PIC night in an airplane) 75 hours instrument 25 hours multi-engine What We Offer All benefits below are provided on the first day of class as a Sun Country First Officer.
