Role Overview This Captain position offers a minimum guarantee of 72 hours per month and reports directly to the Chief Pilot. The role is advertised for multiple bases. The ideal candidate will be type-rated on multi-engine aircraft, with preference given to those rated on the B-767/757 or B-777. A valid first-class medical certificate is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). Strong communication skills are essential, and the individual must embody the company's values and culture while collaborating with team members and customers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities The Captain has command of, and responsibility for, the flight crew, passengers, cargo and the safe conduct of the flight, and coordinates the activities of every individual connected with all phases of the aircraft operation. The Captain adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and evaluates input from all crew members when making critical decisions. Eastern Airlines promotes crew resource management: although the Captain is the final authority on board, the First Officer is encouraged to voice any concerns regarding the Captain's decisions, and on flight safety matters will continue to do so until satisfied that the safety of the flight is no longer in question. The Captain reports to the Chief Pilot and indirectly to the Director of Operations, and maintains a high level of knowledge of FAA regulations, company manuals, OpSpecs, aircraft flight manuals and other duty-based instructions. Retain the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft. Direct the activities of the First Officer, ensuring flight crew members fully understand the duties they are expected to perform. Ensure the assigned aircraft is airworthy and all proper documents are on board. Decide on the start, delay or cancellation of a flight, or deviation from a planned destination, when operating conditions dictate. Ensure the proper amount and grade of fuel is loaded onto the aircraft. Obtain a briefing on the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures and any special instructions, and coordinate flight assignments. Notify the SOC immediately of any deviation from the flight plan, including a detailed description (date, time, location, aircraft number, Captain name) and the reasons for the deviation. Conduct a thorough review of the flight plan, considering altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, airport facilities and navigational aids. Ensure weather and aircraft performance conditions can be met as appropriate to the CFR under which the flight is conducted. Ensure the flight plan or other authorised flight-locating procedure is followed on each flight. Ensure the aircraft weight and balance form / manifest is properly completed, signed and distributed. Report all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents promptly to the Chief Pilot, Director of Operations or designee. Maintain a current First-Class medical certificate and notify the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot or designee if a physical or mental condition impairs the ability to perform the flight. Ensure VHF Omnidirectional Range (VOR) checks and other aircraft equipment checks are performed properly. Ensure crew members provide all passengers with the appropriate briefing for each phase of flight. Ensure required equipment and provisions for passenger comfort are aboard and that all cargo is properly secured. Ensure the preparation of flight logs, the reporting of mechanical irregularities and the recording of maintenance by maintenance personnel. Ensure all maintenance write-ups are passed to maintenance personnel and that maintenance is alerted to the current status of the aircraft. Determine the applicability of the regulations to each flight. Ensure all required aircraft and pilot manuals are available and updated to the current revision (hardcopy or EFB). Determine that the flight crew are adequately rested and in proper dress. Ensure the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all stores and provisions on board for the safety and comfort of passengers and crew. Operate the aircraft at favourable altitudes, taking account of turbulence, oxygen requirements and passenger comfort. At the end of each flight day, enter flight and duty time into the company's computer tracking system or call the Aircraft Dispatcher for assistance. Maintain radio or telephone contact with the SOC frequently enough during a flight to ensure operational messages are promptly conveyed between the flight crew and the base. The Captain may delegate functions to other personnel, but doing so does not delegate responsibility for those functions. Licences & Qualifications A valid FAA ATP. A valid FAA Class One Medical. A Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit. English proficiency consistent with at least an ICAO Level 4 endorsement; fluency in English. Valid US driver's licence. A valid U.S. passport allowing worldwide travel, not expiring within six (6) months. Must be authorised to work in the United States. Must meet FAR 121.436 requirements. Pass the pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol test and the CHRC (Criminal History Records Check). Experience Minimum 7,000 hours total flying time – only time in the operating seat of a turboprop and/or turbojet aircraft can be counted. Minimum 2,000 hours PIC on multi-crew, multi-engine commercial aircraft. Previous experience must include wide-body PIC time, preferably on the B767 or B777. At least 1,000 hours flight time under Part 121 operations. Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
