Role Overview Occidental is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Captain within its Aviation department based in Houston, Texas. Depending on specific responsibilities, a Captain can act as either Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC), ensuring flight operations are conducted with the highest standards of safety, passenger convenience and cost-efficiency. When acting as Pilot Flying, the Captain is supported by the Co-captain as Pilot Monitoring, who oversees cockpit activities and alerts them to any deviations from company standard operating procedures or safe practices. When functioning as PIC, the Captain retains ultimate authority over all aspects of the aircraft's operation. Key Responsibilities Promote the Occidental safety culture while providing the highest level of customer service. Conduct duties in compliance with all pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual and Certificate of Airworthiness requirements, company policies and procedures, and standard aviation good operating practice. Be discreet with sensitive or confidential company information and represent Occidental with a neat, groomed appearance and positive attitude. Take responsibility (though it may be delegated) for all planning related to assigned flights, including learning the details of the flight schedule; checking current and forecast meteorology for departure, departure alternate, route, destination and arrival alternate; calculating fuel required; preparing and filing the flight plan; coordinating catering and commissary requirements with the Flight Technician where applicable; calculating departure and landing weight and balance data within AFM limits; and coordinating with maintenance on aircraft maintenance status. Ensure all aircraft equipment, documents, publications and databases are available on board and current, and coordinate security requirements as required. Perform interior and exterior preflight inspections to ensure airworthiness and service status, and conduct pre- and post-flight briefings with all crewmembers. Maintain a high level of knowledge of the assigned aircraft type, including systems and performance, regulations, operating and navigation procedures, NOTAMs and company procedures and policies. Monitor and maintain the currency of pilot certificates, SIC qualifications, FAA First Class Medical Certificate and recurrent training requirements. Coordinate aircraft servicing at intermediate stops with the Flight Technician / Cabin Safety Attendant. Participate in department projects and ancillary duties assigned by the Department Manager, in Occidental's Performance Management System by establishing annual S.M.A.R.T. goals and personal development goals, and in the flight department's Safety Management System. Remain in 100% compliance with all regulatory and Oxy training programmes. Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience. Reside in or be willing to relocate to Houston, Texas. English proficient. Valid automobile driver's licence and a valid passport with no restrictions. Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and to work well in a team environment that promotes inclusion. Follow and uphold the core values of Occidental. Licences & Qualifications Valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating with an EMB170 specific type rating. Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate, which must be submitted prior to onboarding. Restricted FCC Radio Telephone Operator's Permit. Experience Minimum of 5 years' experience in aviation flight operations. Minimum 3,000 hours total flight time. Minimum 500 hours as Pilot in Command. Minimum 500 hours as Pilot in Command of multi-engine aircraft. Desired: FAA 14 CFR Part 125 operational experience. Desired: minimum of 3 years' experience in corporate aviation.
