About the Company Africa World Airlines operates from Ghana. The Captain represents the airline at all times and reports directly to the Chief Pilot. Role Overview The Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft and for the safety of passengers and crew throughout the period of command. Key Responsibilities Be responsible for the safe operation of the aeroplane and the safety of its occupants and cargo during flight. Give the commands necessary to secure the safety of the aeroplane and of persons or property carried in it; all persons carried shall obey such commands. Ensure all operational procedures and checklists are complied with in accordance with the company's Operations Manuals. Ensure that the weather forecast and reports for the proposed operating area and flight duration indicate the flight can be conducted without infringing company operating minima. Take all reasonable steps to ensure the aeroplane and any required equipment is serviceable, and that relevant emergency equipment is serviceable and ready for use. Take all reasonable steps to ensure the aeroplane mass and balance are within the calculated limits for the operating conditions. Ensure completion of all pertinent records of the flight and compliance with checklists. Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with the rules, laws and regulations of the states where flights are conducted. Maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct and appearance as a representative of Africa World Airlines. Licences & Qualifications Valid ICAO ATPL with EMB145 type rating, or a valid Ghana ATPL. Valid and current Class One Medical Certificate. Minimum ICAO Level 4 English proficiency. Valid passport. Experience A minimum of 3,000 hours total flying time, including 1,000 hours Pilot In Command (PIC). At least 2,000 hours flying multi-crew turboprop or jet aircraft. No history of incidents or accidents. Must provide a letter from the current or previous employer, or from the CAA. Requirements Competence: ability to understand technical detail, strong aptitude for mathematics and mental calculation, and good eye-hand co-ordination to handle the aircraft skilfully. Ability to think quickly, make quick decisions and work calmly under pressure. Ability to give clear, confident instructions to crew members and passengers, and to inspire confidence in both passengers and crew. Flexibility in working hours. Physically fit with excellent vision, including normal colour vision. Self-motivation and determination to succeed, with a high degree of discipline and teamwork. No criminal history. Non-Ghanaians must provide a notarised and authenticated proof of no criminal history document from their home country.
