Role Overview DHL Air (Bahrain) is looking for long- and short-haul first officers to join its B767 holding pool while awaiting future employment in the near to medium term. The first officer acts on DHL international aircraft, operating safely and efficiently in accordance with all company and regulatory rules and procedures. The first officer is directly responsible to the commander for assisting in the safe and efficient conduct of the flight, carries out all duties assigned by the commander in accordance with company procedures, and is qualified to act as PIC for the purpose of taking over control should the person acting as PIC become incapacitated. In addition to the general responsibilities of a flight crew member, the first officer takes all reasonable steps to assist the commander with administrative duties relating to the flight. Key Responsibilities Safety: assist the captain in the safe and efficient conduct of the flight; ensure the assigned aircraft is airworthy, properly and adequately serviced and the loading is proper and secure; become familiar with the route and terminal areas and confirm weather and terminal reports indicate the flight can be made safely. Carry out duties concerning the flight in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures, including procedures, limitations and performance for the specific aircraft type, as allocated by the commander. Confirm the safe navigation of the aircraft, maintaining a continuous and independent check on both its geographical position and its safe terrain clearance. Volunteer advice, information and assistance to the commander that contributes to the safe and efficient conduct of the flight, and seek information or explanation from the commander as needed. Standards: assist the captain in operating the aircraft to the highest possible standards of safety and proficiency at all times. Regulatory: ensure compliance with BCAA regulations and all company policies and procedures specified in the flight operations manual, standard operating procedures manual and aircraft flight manual. When pilot-in-command during the commander's absence from the flight deck, take any action considered necessary in an emergency requiring immediate decision and action, deviating from rules, operational procedures and methods in the interest of safety if needed. Advisory: advise management on any safety issues affecting or potentially affecting company aircraft operations; assist the captain in advising the Maintenance Department on aircraft serviceability; advise Flight Dispatch and management whenever physical impairment of the pilot may affect normal operation; report any incident, accident or other reportable occurrence to management, the airport authority and regulatory authorities as described in the Flight Operations Manual. Procedural: operate in accordance with the flight operations manual, standard operating procedures manual and aircraft flight manual; comply with air traffic control rules, procedures and instructions; ensure any passengers are briefed on the location and use of emergency exits and relevant safety and emergency equipment. Maintain sound knowledge of the applicable civil aviation regulations, aircraft systems, standard operating procedures and carriage of dangerous goods. Assist and support the commander in all decision-making, foster solid working relationships with the crew on every flight, and work as a team to achieve the highest level of on-time performance. Licences & Qualifications Required: ICAO CPL/IR with ATPL theoretical knowledge credit. Required: valid unrestricted Class 1 Medical Certificate (corrective lenses acceptable). Preference will be given to B767/757 type-rated candidates and those with prior jet experience. Experience Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time. Minimum 500 hours on jet aircraft with an MTOM greater than 10 tonnes, or turboprop aircraft with an MTOM greater than 18 tonnes.
