Responsibilities
As an Automation Engineer within our clients' Manufacturing Technologies Team, you will be responsible for deploying and supporting automated machinery used in the assembly of aircraft wing structures and sub-assemblies. These assembly processes include drilling, fastening, routering, and milling. The machinery involved ranges from large Cartesian systems and CNC milling machines to industrial robots, lightweight automation solutions, and collaborative robots (cobots).
Your core responsibilities will include defining new machinery requirements, developing innovative automated assembly processes, and managing related projects. You will also provide technical support and expert advice on existing machinery, as well as on the use of cutters, drills, and routers.
What are we looking for from you?
To be successful in this role, you should hold a degree-level qualification in Engineering or possess equivalent experience. You must have a background in automation and/or robotics, along with knowledge of production processes specific to the Broughton site and familiarity with REACH legislation. Strong project management capabilities, digital proficiency, and data analysis skills are essential. Experience with statistical tools such as Minitab or Skywise is desirable, as is a solid approach to problem-solving, including the use of Practical Problem Solving (PPS) methods. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are also key to this role.
