Job Description

Role Overview The Assistant Director of Operations (ADO) assists the Director of Operations (DO) in the oversight of the Flight Operations departments, monitoring, managing, coordinating and communicating with the DO, the Chief Pilot and other Flight Operations management. The role sits in OCC Management and reports to the Director of Operations. Candidates must live in, or be willing to relocate to, the local Michigan area. Key Responsibilities Assist in coordinating the implementation, integration and maintenance of Safety Management Systems (SMS) throughout the OCC and Flight Operations. Ensure policies and procedures are documented in the appropriate areas and communicated efficiently. Ensure all flight operations are conducted at the highest level of safety. Assist in developing, reviewing, revising and obtaining required approvals of flight operations manuals and bulletins. Promote and maintain safety procedures throughout Flight Operations. Report regularly to the Director of Operations on matters relating to Flight Operations. Assist in monitoring electronic flight bag (EFB) releases and currency. Continually improve the level of safety in Flight Operations and the OCC. Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements and act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and other third parties. Assist with A, B and C OpSpecs application, custody and maintenance. Assist with the pilot new-hire process. Requirements Must live in or be willing to relocate to the local Michigan area. Language: ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English and write routine reports and correspondence. Licences & Qualifications FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Certificate or Restricted Multi-Engine Airline Pilot Certificate. 2,500+ hours total time minimum; 4,000 hours preferred. Military applicants: more than 1,000 hours total time; turbine and PIC requirements are flexible. 1,500 hours turbine (jet) flight time minimum. 500 hours PIC turbine (jet) flight time minimum. Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. FCC Radio Licence. No restrictions on international travel and a current US passport. Ability to pass a 10-year security background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Experience Previous experience as a Check Pilot, Assistant Chief Pilot, Chief Pilot or Director of Operations at a FAR 121/135 carrier is preferred. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or a related field is preferred. Previous Boeing aircraft operating experience is preferred. Ability to successfully complete Kalitta Air's Captain upgrade program on the B747 or B777. Additional Information Physical Demands Ability to walk up and down stairs. Ability to work in a confined area for long periods. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. The post-holder is also a line-qualified pilot working both inside and outside the cockpit in a wide variety of meteorological conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
