Role Overview The Assistant Chief Pilot is jointly responsible for all pilots, providing guidance, coaching, mentoring and support to ensure safe and efficient flight operations as well as proper care of the pilot group. Key Responsibilities Supervise operational control over company flight operations so that flights are conducted safely and in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Operations Specifications and company policies and procedures Provide guidance to pilots, flight attendants, customer service, System Operations Control and Pilot Training to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations Exercise judgement where variations from policy or procedure are required to ensure safe flight operations Administer recognition and disciplinary action for company pilots and other subordinates Take responsibility for pilot performance across operational control, flight planning, navigation, the exit row seating programme, communications and ATC procedures, airman duties, carriage of cargo, aircraft performance operating limitations, handling of passengers and bags, weight and balance, hazardous materials, de-icing, approved areas, routes and airports, RVSM, flight crew duty and rest time, airworthiness compliance, and normal, abnormal and emergency procedures Write company policies and procedures for the pilot group as memoranda and manuals Supervise assigned interns and other employees Supervise management and auditing of FAA-required weight and balance records Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team Counsel subordinates and conduct hearings with other company departments, subordinates and the FAA on operational and disciplinary issues, including Pilot Dependability Manage the general administration of flight operations, including record keeping, distribution of operational data and routine pilot personnel issues Interface with other company groups through regular senior management meetings and maintain currency through continuing education Jointly manage budgetary responsibilities across flight operations Requirements Full understanding of Mesa / Freedom Airlines operations Demonstrated leadership, managerial, negotiation and problem-solving skills Excellent spoken, written and computer communication skills, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Capable of staying trained and current in either pilot seat of company aircraft Must read, write and speak English fluently Able to work diplomatically with others in a high-stress environment and to organise, maintain and execute a schedule of required actions Experience At least three years' experience within the preceding six years as pilot in command of large aeroplanes under Part 121 Medically qualified to fly either seat in Part 121 operations College degree preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered
