Assistant Chief Pilot

Job Description

Role Overview The Assistant Chief Pilot manages the day-to-day functions of all pilots as directed by the Chief Pilot. The role sits in Flight Operations and reports to the Chief Pilot. Key Responsibilities Ensure all flight crew members adhere to Kalitta's policies and procedures to provide an exceptional customer experience with the highest level of safety. Prepare and distribute applicable crewmember instructions, bulletins and manual information. Coordinate with other departments to ensure regulatory compliance with the FAA, ICAO and EASA. Assist the Chief Pilot with interviewing and hiring pilots. Assist the Chief Pilot in other matters as necessary and act on his or her behalf when required. Requirements Language: ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English and write routine reports and correspondence. Licences & Qualifications FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Certificate or Restricted Multi-Engine Airline Pilot Certificate. 2,500+ hours total time minimum; 4,000 hours preferred. Military applicants: more than 1,000 hours total time; turbine and PIC requirements are flexible. 1,500 hours turbine (jet) flight time minimum. 500 hours PIC turbine (jet) flight time minimum. Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate. FCC Radio Licence. No restrictions on international travel and a current US passport. Ability to pass a 10-year security background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Experience Previous experience as a Check Airman, Assistant Chief Pilot, Chief Pilot, Fleet Manager or Director of Operations at a FAR 121/135 carrier is preferred. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or a related field is preferred. Previous Boeing aircraft operating experience is preferred. Ability to successfully complete Kalitta Air's Captain upgrade program on the B747 or B777. Additional Information Physical Demands Ability to walk up and down stairs. Ability to work in a confined area for long periods. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. The post-holder is also a line-qualified pilot working both inside and outside the cockpit in a wide variety of meteorological conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
