North AmericaVHR is seeking a skilled Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic to join our team as a W2 contractor in Tucson. This role involves performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on CRJ aircraft in a fast-paced Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and VHR's commitment to safety and quality. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, adaptability, and a focus on precision.
Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on CRJ aircraft airframes and powerplants, adhering to FAA standards and VHR protocols.
Perform C/D checks, including component replacements, system testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure airworthiness.
Document all maintenance activities accurately, following regulatory and company guidelines.
Maintain a safe and organized workspace, ensuring proper use and care of tools and equipment.
Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and other teams to meet aircraft turnaround timelines, typically 7-10 days per overhaul.
Stay informed on FAA regulations, industry standards, and manufacturer technical documentation.
Work Environment and Schedule
Aircraft: Primary focus on CRJ aircraft for regional airlines, performing C/D checks.
Schedule: Alternating weeks of 4 days on (12-hour shifts) and 3 days off, followed by 3 days on and 4 days off. Facility operates 24/7 with shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Dress Code: Casual attire (T-shirts, shorts or jeans, and steel-toed shoes required). Tools not provided.
Safety Requirements: Standard PPE, including safety glasses/goggles, is mandatory. Additional PPE may be required based on tasks, with fall protection training provided. Comprehensive safety training is included during initial orientation, emphasizing VHR's priority on workplace safety.
Required Qualifications
Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an A&P mechanic
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, including engines, avionics, hydraulics, and airframes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, both independently and collaboratively.
Must pass background checks and drug screenings.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CRJ aircraft or similar regional jets.
Additional certifications, such as Inspection Authorization (IA) or equivalent.
Familiarity with digital maintenance tracking systems.
