About the Company AeroLogic is a modern, strongly growing cargo airline based at Leipzig/Halle Airport, founded in 2007 as a joint venture of DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo. With a state-of-the-art fleet of 28 Boeing 777F aircraft it serves mainly destinations in Asia and the USA - for example daily flights to Hong Kong and several flights a week to Bangkok, Singapore, Shanghai, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta. Since 2012 AeroLogic has cooperated with the flight school TFC Flight Training in Essen to train airline pilots with the aim of a direct transfer into AeroLogic flight operations. AeroLogic sets high standards for its staff in order to meet its own quality requirements and those of its shareholders, and therefore looks for motivated people who want to turn the fascination of flying into their profession and later fly the aircraft of the AeroLogic fleet. TFC Flight Training was chosen as training partner because of its many years of experience in this field. Role Overview Pilot training at TFC Flight Training in cooperation with AeroLogic leading to the ATPL(A) / Airline Transport Pilot Licence, within a training cooperation. AeroLogic accompanies you on the way to obtaining an airline transport pilot licence and makes the entry into the profession easier. Training at TFC Flight Training Training duration: 18 to 24 months Theoretical and practical training (simulator and aircraft) are optimally matched to each other and go beyond general requirements Flying skills and technical knowledge are acquired on modern simulators (FSTDs) All training stages also contain elements of the MPL (Multi-Crew Pilot Licence) Social interaction: you train to handle tasks as a team, take decisions and accept responsibility in practice-oriented simulation sessions The training is expected to run as follows: Theory part 1 Practical training (VFR) Theory part 2 Practical training (IFR) and MCC/JOT basic training Basic training takes place in Essen and at Essen-Mulheim Airport on single-engine aircraft and covers both theory and practice. From the very beginning your training is aligned with AeroLogic procedures and operational requirements. Some of your instructors fly for AeroLogic themselves as captain or first officer. The continuous course can be started either with or without an existing private pilot licence (PPL(A)). It is run as a closed course which, after theoretical and practical examinations (multi-engine aircraft) as well as MCC training and jet familiarisation training, leads to the "frozen ATPL" licence - CPL(A) with SEP and MEP-IR. This licence entitles you, once a type-specific type rating has been obtained, to operate a commercial aircraft as co-pilot under the supervision of a captain. After successfully completing your training at TFC Flight Training, the frozen ATPL allows you to apply without restriction to airlines and aviation companies. The intention, however - subject to a corresponding need at AeroLogic - is to hand you over to AeroLogic for type rating training and training as Second Officer on the Boeing 777F. Type rating training at AeroLogic Step 1: as a Second Officer you first receive first officer training at AeroLogic. This takes place in Leipzig, Essen and Berlin and ends with obtaining the Boeing 777 type rating. Step 2: for around one year you then operate in cruise flight above 20,000 feet, which allows you to become familiar with airline procedures and the particularities of long-haul operations. In this phase you receive more than twice as many simulator flying hours as other flight crews, much of it dedicated to training departures, approaches and of course landings. After approximately 1,000 flying hours and following your conversion to First Officer, you are deployed without restriction on the long-haul network. Requirements Successful completion of the selection procedure, which TFC carries out together with AeroLogic; this assessment is intended to give you the certainty that you have made the right career choice Sufficient knowledge of mathematics, physics and English, evidenced by passing the selection procedure Intermediate secondary school certificate combined with a completed vocational training, or a higher educational qualification (university entrance qualification, technical college, university, etc.) Fluent German and English, spoken and written Proof of successful completion of a first-aid course Declaration regarding criminal proceedings (a form is provided at the start of training) Extract from the driving-fitness register held by the Federal Motor Transport Authority in Flensburg (online application) Application for a background reliability check for aircrew under section 7 of the German Aviation Security Act (LuftSiG), to be filed with the state aviation authority responsible for your place of residence Licences & Qualifications Class 1 aeromedical certificate, with the initial examination carried out by an aeromedical centre Training leads to a frozen ATPL - CPL(A) with SEP and MEP-IR, including MCC and jet familiarisation training Additional Information Please note, to avoid misunderstandings: The ALFA programme is neither a reimbursement of costs nor a sponsorship.
