Aerostructure Cost Engineer


Location: Filton (60% onsite)

Duration: Until 31/10/2026 (with potential extension)
Working Hours: 35 hours/week (4.5 days between 7am-7pm, flexible within business

discretion)

Pay Rate: £35.00/hour Umbrella | £26.16/hour PAYE
Security Clearance: BPSS+ (to be completed by client security team)
IR35 Status: Off-payroll working rules apply
Start Date: ASAP (Subject to BPSS Clearance)
Interview Process: One-stage virtual interview

About the Role

Our Client is seeking a skilled Aerostructure Cost Engineer to join their Cost Engineering team supporting current and future aircraft programmes. This role plays a critical part in enabling cost-effective design decisions and supporting supplier negotiations through detailed cost modelling and analysis.

You will be responsible for producing both Recurring (RC) and Non-Recurring (NRC) cost estimates, primarily for the A220 programme, with potential involvement in Single Aisle and A350 projects. The role involves using digital costing tools, supporting composite manufacturing cost models, and participating in Design to Cost workshops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate RC and NRC estimates for Design to Cost projects
  • Use digital costing tools and ensure consistency with latest standards
  • Support cost modelling for composite manufacturing processes
  • Analyse work package estimates and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Lead cost engineering discussions with suppliers
  • Participate in workshops and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions
  • Ensure quality, reliability, and neutrality in costing procedures
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to assess cost impacts of design changes

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or engineering environments
  • Knowledge of composite, metallic, machined, and fabricated part manufacturing
  • Understanding of non-recurring costs in product industrialisation
  • Design to Cost experience and mindset
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Effective communicator with ability to influence stakeholders
  • Adaptable to new tools and technologies
