CHC Helicopter have an exciting opportunity for a CAMO Planning Engineer to join the team in Aberdeen. The role is responsible for Maintenance Planning of the CHC Scotia fleet and will have engagement with all stakeholders on requirements, work scopes, slots, manpower and cost estimates for both scheduled line and base maintenance. This role will drive the safety, airworthiness and performance of the company fleet of aircraft by effective management of planning activities with regards the key responsibilities.


The key responsibilities of a CAMO Planning Engineer are:

• Compliance with UK Part M, CAME, work instructions and all relevant Safety & Quality requirements to ensure the highest standards of their work
• Communicate to the EMEA business all required line/base maintenance requirements to optimise the maintenance plan to minimise aircraft down time
• Liaise with Post Holders to develop, refine and produce accurate and timely scheduled maintenance work scopes for base maintenance to ensure accurate allocation of maintenance resources
• Coordinate with Operations and Part 145 to plan the release from service of aircrafts to establish optimum downtime and minimise disruption to the flying program
• Control, manage and coordinate all manpower requirements for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Creation of detailed maintenance work packs for scheduled inputs from AMOS ensuring maximum yield from each input
• Updating of AIMS with aircraft off line requirements
• Control, manage and coordinate all manpower requirements for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for the UK Fleet with occasional support for other AOCs within the Business Unit and report back on performance
• Control of the deferred defect database from AMOS and issuing weekly KPI reports for the fleet, ensuring deferred defects are planned in and closed in a timely manner
• Liaising with the Regional Material Coordinators (RMCs) on all parts required from the AMOS System to ensure timely procurement of parts within scheduled deadlines
• Analysing reports within AMOS daily, weekly and as required to ensure planning accuracy and that all requirements are captured and planned
• Attending/chairing the weekly planning meetings, sign off and post weekend maintenance analysis meetings
• Liaising with Operations and Engineering where applicable, providing guidance to the Maintenance Planner on planning activities
• Production of 4 Week / 12 Week and yearly plans for all UK fleets as well as distributing and monitoring accordingly
• Produce Base Maintenance scope of works laid out in the Part 145 & Part CAMO production planning SOPs 6 weeks in advance
• Conduct and lead Base Maintenance T-6 week pre- input meetings
• Liaise with Production Planning for Base Maintenance checks on a regular basis to drive optimisation of the Base Maintenance Hangar Plan
• Liaising with all inter-departmental customers
• Monitor utilisation across the Scotia fleet of applicable aircraft in conjunction with MSC Planning
• Support the component planning process with plans and improvement in conjunction with the RMCs
• Participation as a team member in projects to introduce departmental changes and improvements to the maintenance planning philosophy of CHC EMEA
• Peer to peer discussions with the Part 145 team to improve technical discussions on planning opportunities
• On occasion may be required to travel to other locations at the request of the Senior Continuing Airworthiness Manager

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• A detailed understanding of maintenance data and practical maintenance experience to interpret and understand OEM technical documentation
• An understanding of multi-trade tasks and task overlap to ensure efficient allocation of qualified resources
• Practical experience of the preparation steps and accessibility tasks for efficient maintenance practices
• A detailed understanding of part replacement requirements and consumable and tooling requirements to prepare work packages ready to execute
• A detailed knowledge of application of the maintenance programme and consequence of tolerance use. Technical knowledge of aircraft maintenance programs, configuration management and maintenance planning methodologies is desirable
• Ability to work on own initiative and within a team environment
• Strong planning, project management and organisational skills
• Be an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Be able to work in a pressured environment on a daily basis and delivering to targets and deadlines within the department
• Competent in the use of the maintenance program software and MS Office systems relevant to the position. A working knowledge of AMOS maintenance system is desirable
• Working knowledge of CAA regulations is desirable
