Virgin Australia careers
Virgin Australia is the second biggest Australian airline, only behind Qantas. It is the largest airline by its fleet in the Virgin brand, with 100 aircraft as of 2019. Virgin Australia‘s fleet is a mix of regional jets, namely the ATR 72 or Embraer ERJ-190 and narrow and wide-body jets, like the Boeing 737 or the Airbus A330. Richard Branson and Brett Godfrey established the airline in 1999 and named it Virgin Blue. In 2001, the airline became the second airline of Australia, after Ansett Australia went bankrupt. That helped the airline to grow massively, from 2 aircraft flying a single route to serving multiple cities around Australia and around the world. The airline has 52 destinations in the Pacific region and Asia, while also serving big cities like Dubai, Los Angeles and Johannesburg. Virgin Australia currently has no European destinations. However, Virgin Australia has signed numerous codesharing agreements, which has allowed the carrier to transfer passengers to Europe with different airlines. In 2011 the airline changed its name to Virgin Australia, trying to appeal to a wider audience, namely business travelers while also trying to compete with Qantas. So, if you’re after a challenge to become the number one airline, apply for a career at Virgin Australia! Another unique change was that the airline shifted away from its low-cost roots and introduced themselves as a “New World Carrier”, offering travelers the choice of cheap travel with the low-cost airline model without any service in the air. Alternatively, you could book a more expensive ticket to travel like on a full-service airline. Alongside the new name, new services and business model, Virgin Australia also introduced a completely new livery, uniforms and new wide-body jets. If you are someone who is a hard worker, passionate and dedicated – apply for a career in Virgin Australia. Career options are always available for Pilots, Cabin Crew and engineers on the ground.
