CityJet careers
CityJet is an Irish airline that provides regional flights. Pat Byrne started the company in 1992. However, the airline did not begin any flights until 1994, when CityJet performed their first scheduled flight from Dublin to London City Airport. CityJet operated the flights under the name Virgin CityJet, as the airline agreed with Virgin Atlantic to allow them to use the Virgin branding to attract more customers. After ending the partnership with Virgin, CityJet entered an agreement with Air France. Later on, in 2000, Air France bought out CityJet. The carrier is based in Dublin, Ireland, while it has crew bases all over Europe: Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Paris, Stockholm, Tallinn and Vilnius. CityJet’s newest base is in Vilnius. In 2016 the airline was bought back by its original founder Pat Byrne and a group of other investors. While it provided scheduled flights, since 2017 the airline has moved away from that business model and now provides only charter flights, ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) services and wet lease services to other airlines. Its last scheduled route was the first one they had ever flown – from Dublin to London City. Since then, CityJet operates the flight behalf of Aer Lingus. CityJet mostly operates under the Aer Lingus, Air France, Brussels Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines brand names. Currently, the airline owns 45 aircraft built by various manufacturers: Avro, Bombardier and Sukhoi. However, just recently the airline was looking to offload the Sukhoi Superjet, as the manufacturer cannot supply a proper amount of spare parts. CityJet averages about 1.500 flights per week, carrying 100.000 passengers. The airline strives to provide excellence in every step and be the best in business. If you are someone who is motivated, hardworking and wants to provide the best service, a career at CityJet you must consider a career at the airline. Career opportunities are available for Pilots, Cabin Crew and Engineers.
