Austrian Airlines careers
Austrian Airlines or better known as just Austrian is the flag carrier of Austria. The history of the airline can be traced back to 1923 when Walter Barda-Bardenau established Australian Airlines. After the Second World War, Austria had no national airline. So in 1957, after the Austrian government merged Air Austria and Austrian Airways, Austrian Airlines was reborn. The airline made its first commercial flight just a year later, in 1958. Currently, the airline is a subsidiary of Lufthansa. The airline has its main hub and is based in Vienna International Airport. As of 2019, Austrian Airlines operates a fleet of 83 aircraft, which fly to more than 130 destinations around the world. At the beginning of 2019, the airline announced it would restructure its fleet and replace the aging Bombardier Q400 turboprops with Airbus A320 family aircraft. The process is set to complete in 2021. Joining Austrian Airlines means an opportunity to travel all over the world while also being based in one of the most beautiful countries in Europe making it a very lucrative career option! The airline flies to six domestic destinations as well. During the early 2000s, the airline managed to expand by acquiring other Austrian airlines, namely Rheintalflug and Lauda Air. At the same time, Austrian Airlines joined Star Alliance to further expand their presence in the world. In 2008, after a few years of constant financial losses, the Austrian government sold the airline to Lufthansa. Still operating under its name, the airline has managed to turn its financial situation around and become profitable again for the past 5 years. If you love the mountains and are a hard-working, passionate professional, consider a career in Austrian Airlines. Career options are available for Pilots, Cabin Crew, and Engineers.
