KEY RESPONSIBILITIES <ol><li>Airport Safety Officer (ASO)<ol><li>Experience</li></ol></li></ol> Minimum Fire Fighter 2 certification. Background in airport security preferred. <ol><li>Skills and Knowledge<ol><li>Must have capacity to acquire skill in the operation, use, and maintenance of firefighting equipment and in the fighting of fires.</li><li>Must have ability to maintain order among large groups of persons in emergencies.</li><li>Must possess alertness and skill in detecting and recognizing safety hazards.</li><li>Must have knowledge of established rescue methods and first aid treatment.</li><li>Must have ability to understand and carry out instructions.</li><li>Must be Fire fighter Certified by Contractor's Instructor within six months of start date.</li><li>Must become an AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) in Airfield Operations within one year of hire.</li><li>Must meet all 14 CFR Part 139 training requirements for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting.</li><li>Must have a working knowledge of Basic Security Practices.</li><li>Must have ability to maintain order among large groups of persons in emergencies.</li></ol></li></ol> All required skills, knowledge, experience, or certification must comply with the terms of this agreement or be waived in writing by the Airport Director. <ol><li>Duties</li></ol><ul><li>Perform tasks associated with the AOC or airline / terminal operations as assigned.</li><li>Under the direction of the Chief of Public Safety or Deputy Chief of Public Safety and the Shift Captain, assist and participate in all firefighting, lifesaving, and security activities at the airport and its facilities and to do related work as required.</li><li>Be able to perform as driver/operator of each fire apparatus assigned to the Airport Public Safety Department.</li><li>Operate and be able to maneuver the fire apparatus into the most optimum position for combating a fire.</li><li>Operate pumps, booms, nozzles, or similar equipment.</li><li>Perform firefighting, rescue, and salvage operations at fires, accidents, or other emergencies.</li><li>Maintain fire and safety equipment in good working condition.</li><li>Make inspections of airport aprons, taxiways, runways, buildings, and other structures for the identification and elimination of safety hazards.</li><li>Participate in fire drills and maintain proficiency in the techniques and methods of firefighting.</li><li>Maintain quarters and surrounding areas in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition.</li><li>Prepare reports as required.</li><li>Assist in controlling vehicular and pedestrian AOA entry.</li><li>Maintain surveillance of the terminal and other buildings and provide general security of the Airport.</li><li>Assist Airport tenants with airport operational and security matters as necessary.</li><li>Assist in conducting the AOA driver's training program, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, and security t raining.</li><li>Assist in conducting airport inspections to including identifying, preventing and removing all hazards to aviation within the AOA to include the removal of foreign object debris (FOO).</li><li>Perform vehicle inspections as required.</li><li>Conduct runway condition reading during snow and ice events.</li><li>Contribute to the publication of relevant Notice to Airman (NOTAMS) for the Airport based on criteria established in the Airport ACM.</li><li>Conduct inspections of Airport fuel farm and mobile refueler vehicles for compliance with current FAA and NFPA requirements.</li><li>Act as liaison with the United States Air Force air traffic control tower, airport rescue and firefighting personnel, and all responding agencies during an Airport emergency.</li><li>Report deficiencies and irregularities found on the AOA associated with airport lighting, signage and navigational aids (NAVAIDS).</li><li>Perform duties associated with airline operations during passenger flight days.</li><li>Must have ability to maintain order among large groups of persons in emergencies.</li><li>Must possess alertness and skill in detecting and recognizing safety hazards.</li><li>Must have knowledge of first aid treatment.</li><li>Must have ability to understand and carry out instructions.</li><li>Must have a working knowledge of Basic Security Practices.</li><li>Prepare reports as required.</li><li>As directed review ID badge applications and verify accompanying personal identification (and immigration - if applicable) documents, retrieve Criminal History Record Check results, SIDA Course - schedule and send notifications, ID badge printing and issuance, pull daily report of Lost and expired badges.</li></ul> PROFESIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS /EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS To perform this job successfully, the selected individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
