Technical Shopfloor Support

Location: Broughton

12 month contract (Inside IR35)

Pay Rate: £30.99 p/h via an umbrella company

Summary

The Technical Shopfloor Support role is responsible for accompanying the production team or Autonomous Production Team (APT) to provide end-to-end technical assistance on the shopfloor. This includes identifying, analysing, and resolving technical issues that cannot be managed by Operators or First Line Managers (FLMs). The role ensures continuous production enablement by leveraging available resources and knowledge, while contributing to operational excellence through ongoing process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The role begins with receiving notifications of production issues, such as non-conformities (NCs) or emails, and verifying the availability of logistic kits and current work orders. Outputs include technical analyses and documentation for assembly anomalies and NCs, such as concessions and Design Query Notes (DQNs), as well as rework and parachevement work orders. The role also involves sourcing technical information like drawings, references, parts, tooling, and documentation.

On a daily basis, the role supports disruption management by helping identify NCs on the shopfloor, assessing the need for their creation, assisting in completing NC forms, and following up on their resolution. In terms of continuous improvement, the role helps identify production issues beyond the scope of FLMs and operators, escalating them to relevant support functions. It also contributes to analysing industrial systems, supporting work improvement proposals, eliminating waste through LEAN practices, and assisting with process validation and failure analysis.

Support for industrial assets includes initiating repair requests, drafting specifications for new or modified jigs and tools, and ensuring proper calibration. In work order management, the role flags blocked work orders for discussion in PPC or Level 2 meetings and helps prioritize execution of serial and rework orders linked to NCs or concessions.

The role also promotes Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) by making rules visible on the shopfloor, ensuring standards are upheld, cascading requirements, and addressing near misses. In quality support, the role ensures that production and quality standards are consistently applied. Finally, in logistics, the role assists in prioritizing the delivery of materials related to rework orders to the appropriate stations.
