Are you a senior Licensed Aircraft Engineer looking to step into a leadership role with greater responsibility, client interaction, and influence over workshop operations?
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who wants to move away from full-time hands-on work and into a team leadership, planning, and coordination position within a Part 145 repair shop. You'll oversee a small team and play a key role in day-to-day operations, compliance, and customer engagement.
The environment is small and agile (approximately 4-5 staff), allowing you to have real ownership over workflow, quality, and operational improvement.
Role Overview
The Team Leader will take responsibility for planning, stores oversight, and daily operational coordination within the Part 145 repair shop. Acting as the link between engineers, management, and customers, you will ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Workshop Leadership
- Lead, support, and mentor a small team of engineers and support staff
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Manage day-to-day task allocation and priorities
Operational Oversight & Planning
- Oversee work planning, scheduling, and job card control
- Coordinate materials, tooling, and stores to minimise downtime
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the repair shop
Compliance & Administration
- Maintain compliance with CAA / EASA / FAA Part 145 requirements
- Ensure accurate documentation, records, and audit readiness
- Support quality and safety systems through routine oversight
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a client-facing point of contact for repair activity
- Provide progress updates and manage customer expectations
- Resolve operational or technical queries professionally
Workshop Development & Improvement
- Support the development and expansion of workshop capabilities
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, turnaround times, and service quality
- Contribute ideas to support sustainable growth of the repair operation
Candidate Profile
- Licensed Aircraft Engineer with strong Part 145 experience
- Minimum 7 years' experience in aviation maintenance or MRO
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience (formal or informal)
- Strong understanding of repair shop operations, planning, and compliance
- Comfortable with administration, coordination, and customer interaction
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
