As a pilot at KLM, you are responsible for the safe and efficient execution of our flights. We are not just looking for pilots; we are looking for colleagues who want to get the best out of themselves. Pilots who want to work together with the entire crew to give our customers an experience to remember. Professionals who want to develop themselves, both professionally and personally, and who value sustainability, which we achieve by working with a modern fleet, among other things. As a pilot, you will help KLM become a 'frontrunner in sustainable aviation'.

What will you do?

On board, you will represent KLM. You ensure that our customers have a great experience on every flight, while safety always comes first.

Customer experience is largely influenced by the performance of you and the team, cockpit, and cabin. Together with your colleagues, you ensure a safe working environment, where everyone feels seen and accepted. You reflect on your own behavior and keep developing yourself continuously.

This way, you lay a solid foundation for a successful flight every time.

Where do you land?

In 2026, KLM flies to 161 destinations, 92 in Europe and 69 intercontinental; maybe you will be the pilot flying our passengers to these destinations soon!

As a new KLM pilot, you will start as first officer on one of our European aircraft, or as second officer on one of our wide-body aircraft, depending on the capacity needs.

During your career, you will have the opportunity to fly both short and long distances. This is laid down in the Pilot Career Regulations of the collective labour agreement for pilots on fixed-wing aircraft.

KLM Flight Operations also offers you the chance to be active alongside flying in a secondary function, for example as an instructor.

What do we offer

The salary is laid down in the collective labor agreement. The level of salary is determined by your age, period of employment with KLM, and your exact position. An entry-level salary is between 3,300- and 5,500-euros gross per month, excluding benefits and pension allowances.

After completing your Type Rating Course, your salary will be between 5,500- and 8,300- euros gross per month excluding benefits and pension allowances.

The amounts mentioned are indicative, and no rights can be derived from them.

As a commercial pilot at KLM, you can also count on:

  • A 4-week schedule
  • A daily allowance when you are at your destination
  • A pension scheme
  • ISA travel ('If Seat Available' travel at a greatly reduced rate)
  • Discounts with insurance companies
  • Discounts with car-rental and hotel companies
  • And most importantly, fly with a wonderful company that is among the best and most well-known airlines in the world, and the oldest one flying under its own name!

Are you ready for your next destination? Then we would like to receive your CV and motivation letter. We also ask you to attach a copy of all the documentation mentioned below in pdf format, such as your licence, medical, logbook, MCC certificate, etc.
