Pay: £23.29 per hour PAYE / £31.16 per hour Umbrella
About the Opportunity
Our client is a global innovator operating at the forefront of aerospace technology. Their pioneering high‑altitude, solar‑powered platforms operate in the stratosphere, supporting a wide range of critical applications including Earth observation, environmental monitoring, border surveillance, disaster response and advanced connectivity solutions.
As they continue to expand capability and workload, our client is seeking two Avionics Test Technicians to join their highly skilled engineering environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an organisation pushing the boundaries of next‑generation aerospace systems.
Role Overview
The Avionics Test Technician will support the verification and validation of advanced avionics systems on high‑altitude platform aircraft. You will work hands‑on across testing, troubleshooting, and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure safe, high‑quality, and repeatable test execution.
This role is ideal for someone with strong test engineering experience, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for working on cutting‑edge technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute structured test procedures for avionics systems and components
- Carry out hands‑on fault finding, troubleshooting and test analysis
- Work with wiring harnesses, sensors, thermocouples, and measurement tools
- Log, analyse and report test results clearly and accurately
- Identify test risks, issues, and improvement opportunities
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Test Technician or Test Engineer (aerospace/avionics preferred)
- Strong safety‑first mindset
- Experience with structured test execution and working from detailed test plans
- Comfortable working with wiring harnesses, sensors, thermocouples etc.
- Confident identifying test plan errors or areas for improvement
Desirable Skills
- Experience operating thermal or vacuum chambers (manual or automated)
- Electrical troubleshooting expertise
- Knowledge of aerospace/environmental standards (e.g., DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810)
