KLM Engineering and Maintenance in Vienna, Austria is looking for a

Maintenance Manager

For our Engineering and Maintenance team (11 employees) at Vienna Airport, we are looking for a Maintenance Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe and reliable technical operation in accordance with the operator's requirements. lead on organising inspections, maintenance, testing and checks on KLM or third party aircrafts (11 in total) in accordance with the rules and procedures. At the same time you are responsible for the technical/financial budget and quality targets. Keeping effective working relationships with airline representatives is key as well.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Technical Handling

Organises inspections, maintenance, testing and checks on KLM or third party aircrafts in accordance with the rules and procedures. Responsible for meeting punctuality targets. Ensures environment, labour, health and safety policies are followed. Is responsible for taking charge in cases of Aircraft On the Ground (AOG) situations. Ensures the staff concerned are working in accordance with EASA Part-66 (European Air Law Regulations), KLM and other operator procedures.

Budget Management

Exercises control over the area technical/financial budget and the quality targets. Responsible for budget planning and forecasting. Puts together proposals for new customers to prove they are a viable option for the team. Responsible for invoicing.

Quality Audits

Conducts quality audits for airlines for example when they obtain a new aircraft type. Ensures engineers are capable of handling the new aircraft.

Customer Satisfaction

Establishes and maintains good relations with airline representatives and identifies local opportunities for new contracts.

People Management

Manages a team of ground engineers and mechanics. Contributes to the team‘s achievements through motivating and engaging the team and individuals and leading by example. Manages the performance appraisal process and development of all team members’ skills and competencies. Responsible for the recruitment.

Requirements

Required professional background

  • Managerial experience is desirable
  • Is certifying staff according to JAR 66 Cat. B1(more than one type)
  • Has successfully completed basic training at a JAR 147 institute (4 years) or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years practical experience of aircraft technical handling
  • Fluent written/spoken English
  • German is an advantage
