CAPTAIN JOB SUMMARY:Our Captains ensure that our team members are given the proper support and direction so they may provide quality service to our guests during their dining/lounge experience with us. This is accomplished through exceeding service standards. STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS: As a Captain, you are responsible to adhere to the service standards as outlined in The Standards of Service related to that outlet. A key part of every associate's responsibilities is to serve as a Shore Lodge/Whitetail ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity, conveying a positive and unforgettable dining/lodging experience. This position will support every team member of the department. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 1+ years of relevant Forbes/AAA, 3/4 star/diamond service experience in like property.To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty at Forbes/AAA, 3/ 4 star/diamond standards.Able to communicate effectively with and receive information from guests and team membersAble to listen to a guest, team member and determine what is needed and act accordingly, quickly assessing a situation, determine priorities, create a strategy and implement itAbility to multi-taskHighly organized, detail orientedExcellent customer service skills requiredAbility to train on basic functions and correct chits on POS systemAbility to follow correct protocol with ticket errorsAbility to quickly assess a potential crisis situation between associates, between guest and associate, between guest and guest and be able to diffuseBasic knowledge of liquors, cocktails their makeup, history, flavor profile, preparation and serviceBasic cocktail mixers, and the ability to prepare them to our standardsLifting supplies or equipment of thirty (30) pounds or moreAble to count, read and write in the English languagePossess excellent cash handling skillsFunctional knowledge of food preparation techniques Desirable:A sense of Maturity and Leadership and an enthusiasm for the food and beverage worldThe ability to functionally multitask with speed and grace3+ years of relevant Forbes/AAA, 3/4 star/diamond service experience in like property.Time spent in both front of the house and heart of the house positions, as well as bartendingBasic Computer skills in Excel and Word, keyboardingESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Be sensitive to the guest experience by paying attention to physical facility details (cleanliness, temperature, music volume, crispness of presentation, etc.)Lead your teams to higher guest satisfaction by giving them the tools and the training to be effectivePossess a complete understanding of each of the service staff's responsibilities and a working understanding of how they perform their job duties: taking orders, bussing tables, running room service, hosting the door, etc.Anticipate guests' needs and provide appropriate servicePossess an understanding of Shore Lodge's historyShare knowledge of McCall and the surrounding area to help familiarize out of town guests with our local offeringsGreet guests, creating an exceptional first impressionSupport of team members, recognize and act on strengths and weaknesses, implement a strategy to train for areas of improvement, and praise for a job well done.SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist other team members as neededProvide coverage as necessary for any shift neededTraining, and developing associatesAll other duties as assigned
