VivaAerobus is a Mexican low-cost carrier that is owned by the largest bus company in Mexico, IAMSA. It started operations in 2006, establishing operations from its hub in Monterrey International Airport. The airline firstly connected Monterrey with a number of airports in Mexico. VivaAerobus had the goal to introduce cheaper prices in the Mexican market. Their goal was to offer prices, which were half of the current market. After a few years, VivaAerobus announced its first international destination – Austin, Texas. When establishing the carrier it was co-owned by IAMSA and the Ryan family, who are the owners of Ryanair. Today the airline is fully owned by IAMSA. Currently, VivaAerobus operates 21 Airbus A320’s, with 52 more on order. That is the biggest ever made aircraft order out of all the Mexican airlines. The carrier flies to 73 domestic and 5 international destinations. All of the international destinations are exclusive to US cities. VivaAerobus is quickly expanding and is looking for people to join their ranks!
