Piedmont Airlines careers
Piedmont Airlines is a regional airline based on the East Coast of the United States. The domestic carrier was established in 1961, however, it traces its roots back to 1931 and an airline called Henson Flying Service. But Piedmont Airlines or Henson Aviation as the company was known at the time began their first scheduled flights to Washington D.C in 1962. The airline can also be called a pioneer, as in 1967 Henson Aviation and Allegheny Airlines joined forces and created the first ever codesharing agreement. A lot of airlines have followed suit and codesharing agreements have become the norm in the aviation industry, allowing airlines to save money and still provide a desirable amount of flights around the world. The airline kept growing throughout the 1960s, 1970s and the 1980s, as new aircraft such as the de Havilland Dash 8, destinations and routes signaled that the company is becoming a modern and an efficient airline that serves the East Coast of the United States. So much so, that Piedmont Aviation, a separate company at the time, purchased Henson. As time went on, the success of Piedmont group attracted one of the biggest companies in the United States aviation industry – USAir, which purchased Henson and Piedmont. The two regional carriers were merged into USAir under the USAir Express banner, but later on, the Piedmont Airlines brand was revived in order to preserve the Piedmont name and history of the airline. Choosing a career at Piedmont means that you also get a chance to save the history of Piedmont in the sky and on the ground. While Piedmont Airlines keeps its operation mainly on the East Coast of the United States, the airline has expanded and serves the West Coast as well. When US Airways, formerly USAir, merged with American Airlines, Piedmont Airlines began operating under the American Eagle banner. If you're looking to start your pilot, engineer or cabin crew career in the United States, Piedmont Airlines might be the perfect place for you!
