British Airways careers

British Airways is the national flag carrier of the United Kingdom. Officially the British government established the airline in 1974, when the British Airways Board merged BEA, BOAC and two smaller regional airlines. That is why the history of British Airways can be traced back to 1919. To celebrate its 100th birthday, British Airways has already painted one Boeing 747 in a former BOAC livery to celebrate its heritage. More aircraft in BOAC liveries are due to come in the near future. A few aircraft will also be painted in the BEA livery. Although initially, the government owned the airline, British Airways entered the London Stock Exchange in 1987 and consequently became privatized. With over 270 aircraft under its name, British Airways, or BA for short, serves over 183 destinations. The fleet consists mostly of Airbus and Boeing airplanes, serving various regional and international markets. British Airways is one of the biggest Boeing 747 operators in the world, with 34 in service as of 2019. The airline plans to slowly retire and replace its entire 747 fleet in the coming years. The company also owns a subsidiary called BA CityFlyer. The subsidiary operates out of London City Airport and Edinburgh Airport. British Airways was one of the four airlines, which used Concorde planes in its fleet during its years of service. British Airways is currently in an airline group called IAG, which formed when BA merged with Iberia. The group is currently the third largest airline group in the world by revenue. It is also a part of the Oneworld alliance. British Airways was one of the founding members of the alliance. British Airways offers numerous career opportunities for various professionals. Mostly, job offers are available for Pilots, Cabin Crew members and Engineers. So, if you‘re considering to proudly represent the Union Jack around the world – a career in British Airways is the best choice for you!
