VACANCY: Sheet Metal Technician

REPORTING TO: Chief Engineer

LOCATION: Heidelberg (Gauteng)

Aero Support Force has a requirement for a responsible, knowledgeable, and attentive individual to fill this position in Heidelberg within the Starlite Group.


  • Analyse and understand aircraft blueprints, specifications, and maintenance manuals to make repairs.
  • Consult drawings, structural repair manuals, standard practices manual, schematics, repair schemes etc to manufacture or repair specified detailed parts.
  • Prepare surfaces and apply protective coatings to a variety of materials used on aircraft.
  • Order supplies, equipment, materials, and parts for repairs and manufacturing as required.
  • Safely operate various tools used for sheet metal applications.
  • Install, repair inspect, and replace sheet metal components on aircraft, including structural assemblies.
  • Cut, bend, shape and manufacture sheet metal parts to required dimensions.
  • Use appropriate machinery to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assembly of parts.
  • Follow MOP, QAM and SMS system.
  • Assist Mechanical AMEs as required with aircraft maintenance.
  • Do minor composite repairs as required iaw relevant technical manuals and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Experience on Airbus Helicopters and documentation (advantageous)
  • Must be willing to travel international and locally, sometimes for extended periods


The following list of qualifications is essential to fill the position:

  • Grade 12
  • Trade test Certificate
  • Licensed AME with a SACAA B rating for Aircraft Structures (Composites advantageous)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years aviation experience
  • Previous experience working on Airbus Helicopters (AS330/SA332/EC225 advantageous)
  • Good knowledge and understanding of computers
