The Cathay Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) integrates a broad spectrum of flight operations, relevant decision making and problem-solving activities to maintain schedule regularity, balance the priorities of all frontline sections and recover the schedule after disruptions in the best interests of the customers, company and staff.
The IOC Data Analyst will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high quality analytics, reporting, and insights on Cathay operations. The role covers a broad scope of responsibilities including concept and design, data integration, development, and deployment of solutions within an agile framework.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to leverage insights and analytics capabilities in operations, support the deployment and integration of new technologies, and bring long-term improvements to operational efficiency and processes at Cathay Pacific.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Analytics: Develop complex analytics solutions for IOC, including dashboards, reports, ad-hoc operational analysis, and data models, leveraging an operational data lake and analytics tools, primarily Tableau.
- Business Analysis: Work with business streams to frame business questions, gather process information, perform analysis, design visualization of results, and derive analytical models to meet business objectives.
- Data Integration: Proactively bring in new data sources and expand data models / definitions to ensure proper integration of internal and external sources with high data integrity.
- Analytics Infrastructure: As a business stakeholder, work with IT and Digital teams to manage enhancements on tool integration to advance IOC analytics capabilities, including requirements, testing, training and delivery.
- Ops Analysis: Leverage data analysis to facilitate day-to-day operational decision making in the IOC and provide insights on evolving operational situations.
- Data Quality: Manage and review data quality by implementing quality metrics & regular monitoring, working on incidents to maintain accessibility and consistency of data as well as readiness of related analytics capabilities.
- Data Governance: Navigate data governance and policy frameworks to ensure timely onboarding and integration of data with high quality and of value to IOC.
Requirements
- Relevant degree in the field of data science, operations research, statistics, or other related technical background.
- Minimum 2 years of working experience relating to data & analytics with a good understanding of operations, specific experience in logistics, airlines, or airports is a big plus
- Strong analytical abilities, numerate and familiar with statistical algorithms, ideally with exposure in developing optimization models
- Expert in using analytics & query tools with focus on Tableau and Tableau Prep, as well as data modelling techniques
- Proficiency in data visualization tools, ideally Tableau
- Proficiency in scripting languages e.g. Python, SQL, SAS
- Curious, meticulous, self-motivated and strong continuous improvement mindset
- Working knowledge of agile delivery practices
- Outgoing personality, able to build trust and strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
