Primary Objective of the Position:

The successful applicant will maintain Cargojet's aircraft at the highest level of reliability and ensure duties are performed in accordance with Cargojet's MCM, MPM and Technical documentation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform the maintenance of aircraft as established with Cargojet's MCM, MPM and technical documentation.
  • Perform aircraft certification and maintenance release in accordance with the requirements of the MPM and

    CAR 571.
  • Ensure that all spares issued for aircraft maintenance are maintained to the same standards as issued until installed.
  • Ensure that all unserviceable components are properly tagged and returned to quarantine stores.
  • Complete and certify all necessary maintenance forms, log books and paperwork.
  • Report all SDR (Service Difficulty Report) findings.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to discern impending failure modes.
  • Be knowledgeable with all company and government manuals and documents pertaining to their work.
  • Perform any other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Key Objectives:

  • Employees are required to possess an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers licence issued by the Ministry of Transport (Canada) which permits them to certify aircraft as ready and is in sound condition for flight.
  • This is mechanical work at the skilled level involving the repair, rebuilding, overhaul, maintenance and servicing of aircraft operated by Cargojet and mechanical repair work on accessories, hangars, base equipment and machinery.
  • Assignments are made to employees by means of oral or written instructions.
  • Repair and maintenance and inspection of the condition of aircraft and engine, the making of repairs, replacements, and adjustments and the inspection of essential components such as electrical, avionics or hydraulic, pneumatic, engine systems, brakes and controls.
  • Performs and directs the performance of structural repairs on the aircraft.
  • Certifies aircraft as airworthy in accordance with Ministry of Transport Standards.
  • Is responsible for shop equipment, airside equipment and vehicles and maintenance support equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned on Cargojet's fleet of aircraft and equipment in an efficient and effective manner with a high degree of quality.
  • To reduce or eliminate premature component failures and provide a high level of aircraft Dispatch Reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service, inspect, troubleshoot and repair aircraft.
  • Ensure that all Aircraft & equipment are maintained and serviced in a timely manner.
  • Carries out assignments of daily aircraft maintenance and overhaul programs.
  • Checks condition of aircraft and engine, makes repairs, replacements and adjustments, in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
  • May direct the work of a number of Aircraft Apprentices and Trades Helpers.
  • May be required to fly with aircraft as flight engineer.

Key Competency Requirements:

  • Ability operate Aircraft and Engines and taxi Cargojet's Aircraft.
  • Ability to Taxi and perform engine runs as approved by Cargojet's Quality Assurance.
  • Required to lift weight 50 lbs. (fifty pounds) for component replacements.
  • Ability to operate high lifts, fork-lifts to gain access to aircraft.
  • Ability to work from heights and on ladders.

Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures and inspection systems
  • Knowledge of aircraft materials and parts and the regulations governing their acceptance for registered aircraft and the process of quarantine action.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and fire prevention.
  • Ability to select and record data necessary to substantiate airworthiness.
  • Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Ability to sequence work programs.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Education normally obtained through years of progressive education and Post-Secondary Aircraft Technical Training and Aircraft Endorsement courses.
  • Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Licence issued by the Ministry of Transport.

Location & Work Environment:

  • Required to work in a hangar or outdoors.
  • Shift work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have Transport Canada AME M2 License.
  • Type Rating or experience with B757, B767, B777
  • Required to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP)
  • Ability to use computers - MS Word & Excel.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
