Welder / Fabricator Technician - Aviation Engineering

Part of a global aviation group we are an OEM-certified engineering company dedicated to providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services for small gas turbine and turbofan engines used in aviation. Our authorisations cover the majority of turbine engine models powering fixed and rotary wing aircraft used for business aviation, and many of the engines used in government, military and commercial applications.
The Welder / Fabricator Technician Role:
As Welder / Fabricator Technician you'll carry out a wide range of fabricating and welding processes to repair or modify aero engine components, in a multi-skilled environment.To prioritise your workload to meet customer targets.
Main Responsibilities:
+ Carry out metal working and fabrication of components to meet customer requirements
+ Produce finished products using machine-controlled surface treatments - finishing by fettling /dressing /blasting
+ Produce engineering products by assembly operations - assembling thin plate
+ Carry out pressure and leak testing activities and/or replacing materials/components as required
+ Produce finished engineering products by planishing and riveting.
+ Produce patch repairs from sheet metal, drilling and tapping where necessary
+ Develop processes and procedures in conjunction with engineering to repair new components
+ Inspect and verify quality of work against specification/review and interpret radiographs
+ Design develop and manufacture tooling and gauges in conjunction with other departments
+ Move and track work projects to next relevant work centre upon completion of current operation
+ Prioritise workload to meet timescales
+ Carry out weld tests in accordance with Company Procedures and Standard Practice Manual
+ Prepare weld test samples and submit to laboratory to certify / re-certify your personal weld standard in accordance with OEM
About You:
Technical Knowledge/Qualifications:
+ BTEC Level 3 and NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or alternative previous Engineering Apprenticeship with NVQ Level 2 qualification
+ Welding certification (AWS-D17.1, NADCAP or equivalent) or has knowledge and experience of TIG Welding aerospace materials (Inconel 718, Hastelloy X, Titanium, Precipitation Hardened Stainless Steel components and Aluminum castings).
+ Fabrication by Oxy-acetylene Torch Brazing and MIG Welding
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
+ Excellent communication skills
+ Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and regulations
+ Adhere to the Company Information and Protection Policy (IPP)
+ Self-development will be the responsibility of the post-holder. Training and development will be identified, and opportunities sought to increase personal effectiveness
+ Maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external departments
