Aquila Flight Simulator Operator

Location: RAF Shawbury

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Land and Air Systems (LAS) Aquila Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) business unit as an Aquila Flight Simulator Operator.

Located at the Defence College of Air and Space Operations at RAF Shawbury the AQUILA Flight Simulator Operator supports the School of Air Operations Control in delivering quality Air Traffic Controllers for the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Foreign and Commonwealth personnel. Within Air Traffic simulators the Flight Simulator Operator (FSO) creates realistic Air Traffic Management scenarios through effective operation of PC based simulators.

Key responsibilities and tasks:
* Create realistic Air Traffic scenarios in the simulator environment.
* Follow instructions and accurately input data as requested by trainee Air Traffic Controllers.
* Maintain effective communications with FSO staff and the School of Air Operations Control staff.
* Work as part of a team with a high dependency on effective liaison and planning.
* Ensure disciplinary matters are brought to the attention of the Flight Simulator Operator Manager

Skills, experience & qualifications
* Be an articulate and effective communicator in the English language (the international Air Traffic language).
* Ability to multi task.
* Able to use initiative and solve problems in a timely manner.
* Enthusiastic with a willingness and aptitude to learn.
* Willingness to undergo Security Clearance.
* Computer literate.
* Reliable with excellent time-management skills.
* Strong customer and delivery focus with dedication to the teamwork whilst following instructions accurately

Air Traffic Management knowledge will be delivered to the successful candidate over a 16-week training course. Successful completion of this period is required to confirm continued employment in the FSO role. Please note this isn't a technical position.

This vacancy also requires the individual to be able to obtain full Security Clearance (SC).

In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
