Job Summary

The Medical Logistics Warehouse Supervisor supervises the daily operation and administration of the medical logistics facility and ensures services are integrated into the clinical and operational aspects of the hospital in collaboration with health care providers and department managers. Directly responsible for assisting in maintaining an effective and efficient medical warehouse receiving, storing, inventorying and performing quality assurance inspections on medical supplies and equipment. Ensures quality assurance per assigned quality control standards.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Hospital warehouse facility.
  • Generates work assignments, manages schedules, sets priorities, assigns daily tasks, reviews employee performance, and makes employment decisions.
  • Assigns appropriate resources, determines objectives and procedures, and monitors results to ensure inventory is accurate; ensures materials are received, stored, shipped, and reported in accordance with established procedures and government guidelines/regulations and meet contract requirements.
  • Manages procedures and controls for hazardous material shipments.
  • Responsible for overseeing the handling of cold chain items.
  • Serves as a Medical Logistics Liaison for internal units in the Area of Operation.
  • Creates reports for management, illustrating statistics and performance/production levels and key metrics; notate any errors, fluctuations, or anomalies, and suggest ways to improve performance.
  • Reconciles inventory (write offs, adjust quantities, etc.) after third inventory count has occurred.
  • Manages the internal turn in of expired medical supplies.
  • Oversee government compliance and serve as point of contact for internal auditors, government auditors, and government property administrator.
  • Ensure safety of workforce by educating employees on proper procedures and safety guidelines, striving to achieve an accident free workplace.
  • Utilized the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support System ( DMLSS) automation system to manage overall transactions
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to lead, coach, and manage others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and continuously meet deadlines.
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned
Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of warehouse processes, storage and distribution
  • Knowledge and skills with pharmaceuticals, medical supplies / healthcare preferred
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and ability to handle performance issues as they arise
  • Skill and knowledge in analyzing and evaluating logistics management information system reports such as Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support System (DMLSS), Theater Enterprise Wide Logistics System (TEWLS) preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance required to operate the medical information system (MIS) and maintained as a condition of employment.
  • HAZCOM Training for handling Medical Material (Preferred)
  • DoD Military Army Military Occupational Skill 68J20 Medical Logistics Specialist, Air Force, Navy or other equivalent civilian skill is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment

Experience & Education

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a warehouse environment with at least three (3) years Logistics / Supply Warehouse and/or logistical warehouse experience.
  • Medical Supplies / Hospital or Clinical Environment experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Hazardous materials certification preferred.
  • High School Diploma or higher education
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • HAZCOM Training for handling Medical Material (Preferred)
  • DoD Military Occupational Skill 68J Army Medical Logistics Specialist, Air Force, Navy or other equivalent civilian skill is preferred
  • Computer Automation, DMLSS training preferred
  • Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to work in warehouse facility, which may include lifting boxes, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, operating a forklift, and climbing a ladder.
  • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
