Tactical Air Support, Inc., a national company headquartered in Reno, Nevada, provides government and aviation industry partners with unparalleled consulting and training experiences and is seeking a full-time qualified Test Pilot to join its Technology Development team. Tactical Air Support's mission is to provide domestic and international “Center of Excellence” training and advisory services in tactical aviation, while supporting U.S. interests, and providing meaningful career opportunities for our employees. Tactical Air Support's Technology Development division is responsible for all planning, engineering, integration, and testing of elements of the Technology Roadmap. The Technology Development Director is responsible for ensuring the Technology Roadmap maintains Tactical Air Support at the forefront of uniqueness in exceeding USG and civilian Adversary Air and Flight Test requirements. This enterprise includes organizing the physical modification of company aircraft.

This position is located in Reno, Nevada. With a population of over 400,000, the Reno/Sparks area is a thriving, growing community nestled along the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Reno and the surrounding area offers a variety of arts and entertainment, an eclectic restaurant scene, and unlimited recreational activities.

The ideal candidate for the Test Pilot position will be professional, highly-productive, and responsive to the needs of the company, its DoD customers, and colleagues. This position will provide ground and flight test support for development of the Tactical Air Support F-5E/F Advanced Tiger (AT) (and other aircraft) Technology Roadmap. This development plan includes basic aircraft modifications as well as multiple sensor upgrades/additions. The F-5 AT is a point designed “Red Air” adversary aircraft that supports U.S. government “Blue Air” training needs. The Test Pilot support will include frequent travel to vendors and government customers to coordinate development/acquisition of sub-systems.

Tactical Air Support will supply flight training for the successful candidate to attain an FAA F-5 type rating. Applicant will be expected to plan, conduct, and document test events on a frequent basis as well as be willing to fly occasional “Red Air” sorties for government customers as needed. These flight events could be at any location worldwide.

The key desirable and preferred requirements for this position include:

  • Test Pilot School graduate.
  • Fighter Weapons School or TOPGUN graduate.
  • At least 2,000 hours PIC time in fighter type aircraft.
  • F-5/T-38 PIC experience. • Acquisition experience.
  • Program Management experience.
  • Aviation currency.
  • CFI/CFII/MEI.
  • FAA Class II medical certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple roles and projects.
  • Ability to cross-train into other aircraft.
  • Ability to read, listen to, and understand information and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Regular travel to various work sites throughout the U.S. will be required; occasional international travel may be required.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. government Secret security clearance; posses current Top Secret clearance preferred.

The successful candidate for this position must be able to travel to and/or relocate to Reno, Nevada or the surrounding area.
