Job description

The Wizz Air UK (‘WUK’) Finance Manager ensures that the financial processes of WUK are properly managed by all Wizz employees and service providers involved, and that the WUK team is properly served & supported by Group Finance. Additionally, the WUK Finance Manager manages selected accounting processes and projects of the Wizz Air Group. This is an important role in a small team within Finance that, among other things, manages the Group’s financial reporting to the London Stock Exchange. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Accounting & Tax of the Group.

Your tasks will be:

50% of responsibilities directly related to WUK, as follows:

  • Be the primary Finance contact to the WUK organization (incl. particularly the Managing Director) for all WUK-related financial matters
  • Track, oversee, lead or execute (as appropriate) the Finance projects for WUK
  • Contribute to WUK monthly closings, financial audits, and the preparation of WUK annual financial statements
  • Review and control of the quality of the WUK books and management reports
  • Manage all intercompany relationships of WUK

50% of time allocated to other (non-WUK) accounting matters:

  • Hedge accounting (under IFRS) for the Group
  • Review and filing of the annual statutory financial statements of the smaller entities/branches of the Group (10+ per year, in different countries in Europe)
  • Prepare other inputs to Group month-end closings and financial audits
  • Deliver ad-hoc accounting projects and tasks allocated by the Senior Accounting Manager of the Group.
  • Finalized university or college degree in economics, majoring in finance or accounting
  • International accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, etc) is an advantage
  • 5-10 years work experience in similar area, preferably at a multinational company. Part of the experience should be in accounting or audit, but preferably not all
  • Experience in the use of ERP systems
  • Good Excel knowledge
  • Firm understanding of key accounting concepts, particularly IFRS
  • Strong interpersonal skills, primarily leadership, thinking/problem solving and communication. Ability to work independently
  • Fluent English
  • Flexibility to travel – shall visit the Wizz Air office at London Luton Airport twice a month
