Job description

Accessory Mechanic purpose of position:To perform maintenance on all customers’ aircraft and engine accessories following company policies, SOPs and Repair Station Manual.

Essential Functions:(must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).

  • Locates the accessory work order from the assigned production rack.
  • Locates the correct manual and tooling equipment needed to complete evaluation
  • Reviews and interprets the overhaul manual (OHM) to accurately diagnose the defect listed identified by the Customer or adhere to the correct engine work scope
  • Completes preliminary inspection: bench test unit to confirm Customer’s Report, as well as inspecting for any incoming damages or numerical errors (part/serial numbers, descriptions, status’ etc.)
  • Properly disassembles the unit according to the overhaul manual; using the correct tooling equipment required and following any standard aviation procedures/practices
  • Visually inspects piece parts for any defects listed by the overhaul manual and/or any aviation standard practice
  • Measures any item indicated by the inspection section using micrometers, calipers and/or any other approved measuring equipment
  • Assigns the correct routing for any rework item by completing the required routing tag IAW the company’s SOP
  • Completes any final calibration/testing required per the overhaul manual with the Accessory Shop Quality Inspector
  • Ensures the all piece parts, tags and paperwork are properly identified and completed for Final Inspection
  • Properly preserves the unit IAW the overhaul manual or standard aviation practices
  • Ensures units are properly mounted on shipping boards if required
  • Ensures caps, plugs, covers, and tags (e.g. WARNING and CAUTION tags) are properly installed before shipping

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all PPE
  • Must have knowledge of precision measuring tools/equipment (dimensional and electrical)
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 85 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally
  • Ability to provide verification of US Citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions.

Experience and Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED preferred. Three year’s experience performing maintenance on T56/501 engines is preferred. Must pass a criminal background check and DOT drug screen and comply with all FAA regulations. A&P license and FAA Power Plant Rating or Repairman Certification preferred.
