Job Summary

The Aircraft Electrical Repairer performs inspection, functional check, maintenance, repair troubleshooting, modification, and preservation of the AH-64, UH-60, and 406CS electrical systems.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Perform fault detection and fault isolation checks of electrical system/electrical component problems, using proper AVUM/AVIM corrective actions on electronic equipment and proper repair procedures to correct the problems found.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring, cabling, generator systems, malfunctioning equipment, circuit breaker systems, and instrument/console panels to determine the source of problem areas, failure module, printed circuit board, or electronic component part using common and specialized tools and test equipment to properly correct deficiencies found.
  • Responsible for completion and maintenance of all applicable forms, records, and reports using appropriate references and other publications of The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS).
  • Responsible for in-house calibration of tools and equipment, as well as operate and maintain common and peculiar aviation ground support equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Provide On-the-Job-Training (OJT) for Saudi technicians and/or other personnel to include maintaining appropriate records on personnel such as Job Performance Guides (JPGs).
  • Assist in shop safety as well as safety in the hangar and on the flight line.
  • Identify, use, and maintain common, special, and precision tools in job performance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general maintenance of the associated work area. Perform cleaning, preservation, and operational maintenance work on assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Operate motor vehicles, machines, and other mechanical equipment in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Working knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) and applicable Army publications.
  • Ability to interpret associated technical publications, field manuals, and technical bulletins.
  • Able to select and use common and special tools to include special aircraft electrical system diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) and applicable Army publications.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand Arabic is desirable.
  • Capable of obtaining a valid light equipment operator’s license.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalence required.
  • Graduate of the US Army Aircraft Electrical Repairer Course (68F) and hold the Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) of X1.
  • Four (4) or more years (within four (4) years of application date) of experience in aircraft electrical systems, with one (1) year at the US Army -30 level or equivalent.
  • Previous experience on the AH-64, UH-60, and 406CS or OH-58 series of aircraft as an electrical repairer preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Work in a maintenance hangar/outdoor flight line-like environment.
  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices.
  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time.
