Reporting to the Manager, Engine Maintenance and Cost Optimization, this position is primarily responsible to optimize, manage, and lead the introduction and retirement of engines within the AC operating fleet. Responsibilities will also include supporting the sourcing and evaluation of new engine fleet campaigns, optimizing engine maintenance strategy for exiting engines to minimize end of lease adjustments (EOLA), and leading commercial/business financial analysis in support of asset sourcing or leasing. This position will interface with all levels of management and numerous functions across several AC branches.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Strategic Procurement, support the sourcing, financial analysis and negotiations of new engine and APU fleet types as part of fleet replacement campaigns including execution of GTA, purchase agreements, product warranties and service agreements ($3B-4.5B each campaign).
  • On behalf of the Engine business unit, liaise with Fleet Transactions, Network, and other AC departments in support of engine maintenance budget optimization due to fleet plan changes, and to provide engine maintenance cost data for fleet/route profitability evaluations.
  • Coordinate with Fleet Transactions and Finance to perform financial analysis of Engine and APU maintenance versus EOLA to establish the most cost-effective engine management strategy.  
  • Identify the requirements for the purchase/sale of engine assets and strategic operational leases.Manage new engine type fleets prior to entry into service (budget activities, financial evaluations, contractual decisions, initial provisioning, etc.), including all activities related to the acquisition and delivery of spare engines.
  • Lead all engine BU activities related to fleet retirement by establishing and implementing a plan minimizing overall lease return costs while still meeting contractual obligations.
  • Liaise with numerous internal functions (i.e. Legal, Tax, Insurance, Finance, Strategic Purchasing, Fleet Transactions, Network) as well external entities such as existing and potential vendors, other airlines, etc.
  • Support the sale of engine and APU assets following fleet retirement.
  • As required, support Fleet Transactions with the review of engine specific clauses in aircraft lease agreement contracts (including amendments to or extension of these contracts) and ensure engine BU activities and pro

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, etc.).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with complex financial analysis, contract administration and/or strategic fleet management, preferably in an aerospace environment.
  • Excellent analytical abilities in support of financial business case preparation and analysis. 
  • Superior planning and organization abilities to efficiently manage time, money, and other resources to achieve goals.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision and must have strong organizational skills with an aptitude to juggle priorities to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain strong and effective relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with MS Work, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Familiar with a variety of the industry’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
