Job description

The mission of the role is creating and further implementation the development strategy of the Ground handling SkyUp function at the global level; effective execution of business plans in accordance with SkyUp's strategic business goals; staffing, management and development of the global Ground handling team.


Main responsibilities:

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Planning, coordination and ensuring the quality implementation of the development strategy of the Ground handling SkyUp function
  • Ensuring the implementation of KPI`s
  • Effective use of company`s resources
  • Control of administrative processes
  • Ground handling team management.

Functional tasks of the role:

  • Organization and current management of Ground handling SkyUp Department (SkyUp Ukraine and SkyUp Malta).
  • Ensuring the regularity of the Airline's flights in the part that concerns the activities.
  • Building and coordinating relationships with Airline ground handling service providers and airport companies at designated base(s) and satellite airports to achieve targeted results in all areas of safety, compliance, cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Cost management in accordance with the established budget, ensuring cost-effective operational solutions and agreements along with the growth of the Airline.
  • Provision of flight services at base and transit airports and coordination of fulfillment by service organizations of contractual obligations regarding the timely, complete and high-quality provision of ground handling services in accordance with current contracts regarding baggage handling and passenger service, including in force majeure situations (search baggage, etc.).
  • Responsibility for compliance by Ground handling SkyUp staff with the Airline’s Rules for Air Transportation of Passengers and Baggage, Production Discipline, Implementation of Job Instructions, Rules of Internal Work Procedures, Occupational Safety and Fire Safety Standards, Aviation Safety Program Requirements.
  • Compliance with obligations regarding confidential information and trade secrets of the Airline (terms of agreements and contracts, commercial activities, etc.).
  • Participation in the development of regulatory documentation on ground handling production activities.
  • Management of safety risks and threats to the safety of aircraft flights.
  • Analysis of the effectiveness of the Flight Safety Management System in ground handling units.
  • Improvement and regular updating of the Flight Safety Management System in ground handling units.
  • Coordination of the implementation of the Rules of Air Transportation of Passengers and Baggage of the Airline Company, organization of accounting of transportation documentation.
  • Responsibility for the quality and scope of services for the maintenance of the airline's aircraft at base and transit airports by contracted organizations (aviation security).
  • Ensuring regularity of flights and commercial loading of flights.
  • Control over the fulfillment of the terms of the Contracts for ground handling at airports.


Professional experience and skills:

  • Professional experience in a similar management position in the aviation industry for at least 3 years is a must (management of a commercial direction in aviation will be an advantage).
  • Experience in developing the company's strategic and business plans, successful cases of their implementation.
  • Deep expertise in the field of aviation and ground handling
  • Successful management experience 5 years +
  • Developed leadership skills, ability to build and develop a team
  • Ability to achieve set results in situations of uncertainty with limited resources
  • Critical and analytical thinking, ability to solve problems of of different levels of complexity
