Tasks

We are looking for an ATR (air turbo rocket) lead engineer to join our team. You will be primarily responsible for the further development of Destinus air turbo rocket demonstrator. The air turbo rocket is a concept that has been analyzed in various papers, but only very little demonstrators have been built to date. Your team will be responsible for the continued development of the ATR or similar configurations.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers in the design, development, and testing of aero engine/ATR components and systems,
  • To architect, design and implement subsystems and components for the ATR system,
  • Follow the design process, use of PLM and recording of modifications,
  • Select and monitor manufacturing and assembly of said components,
  • Produce documentation and fulfill requirements from certification authorities for experimental flights,
  • Superior time management ability and demonstrated experience as a self – starter,
  • Define the roadmap and execute the plan accordingly,
  • Develop test plans, take part in test facility development and upgrades, perform full engine testing, and analyze test results,
  • Support design reviews, provide guidance and mentor junior engineers,
  • Work with systems engineers to ensure all system requirements are met,

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an Aerospace Engineering or similar,
  • 8+ years of experience in aero engine development and/or aeroengine modifications or upgrades,
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in thermodynamics, structural, materials, and fluids analysis, heat transfer and cooling schemes,
  • Modelling of engine performance and analysis of test data with respect to models,
  • Deep knowledge in combustion of kerosene and hydrogen, and cooling schemes,
  • In depth knowledge and working experience with solutions, best practices & process of air breathing engine and design tools,
  • Experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypes,
  • Clear evidence of ownership from work experience,
  • Skill in creating analytical/numerical models of aeroengines and associated systems,
  • Experienced CAD user

Desired skills

  • Experience in modifications of aerospace products and the associated documentation,
  • Experience with hydrogen technology and cryogenics,
  • Being an NX crack is a plus,
  • Quick prototyping is your middle name,
  • Understanding of manufacturing aerospace processes forging/casting/assembly/ CNC machining/turning/EDM/ECM,
  • Demonstrated track record in a rapidly growing, changing, and highly technical environment with good team management skills and performance track record
