Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation. Reporting to the Regional Director Cargo Operations Europe, The Cargo Operations Europe the Manager Regional Cargo Operations will be accountable for all aspects of operational service delivery and safety for Air Canada’s cargo product in Germany, The Benelux and Northern Europe. This includes responsibility for our self-handled cargo operation based at Frankfurt Airport, including safety, service delivery and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities 
  • To be responsible for the overall management of our self handled cargo terminal and operation at Frankfurt Airport, serving Air Canada’s passenger operations as well as Air Canada Cargo’s freighter services.
  • Through our GHA partners, to be responsible for the overall management of our cargo operations across Germany, The Benelux, and Northern Europe.
  • Overall responsibility to ensure Safety, Security and Service standards and regulations are observed, monitored, and practiced consistently, including Emergency Response and any relevant Environmental regulations.
  • Performance management of all sub-contractors ensuring service quality and customer satisfaction metrics are achieved.
  • Overall responsibility for the delivery and compliance of agreed Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manage all Direct Operating Cost and Overheads within agreed budget.
  • Lead a team responsible for cargo operations, resource planning and safety.
  • Responsible for developing an action plan in relation to any Safety or Audit findings.
  • Work closely with our HQ departments to develop and implement an effective regional operational structure with our ground handling and ground transportation providers, including robust performance review mechanisms and processes.
  • Working with the Regional Director Cargo Operations Europe, plan to ensure future proofing of the FRA Cargo Terminal, looking at mechanical enhancements long and short term.
  • Ensure that any station start-ups within regions are successful by collaborating with HQ Procurement and providing necessary support to GHA partners.
  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of trucking network throughout the region.
  • Working with the team, to be responsible for ensuring resourcing requirements are sufficient to deliver the required service levels, but also are in accordance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • In alignment with CNC, ensure continuous dialog with Uniload to ensure adequate and compliant ULD management across all responsible stations.
  • Provide representation for Air Canada at Frankfurt Airport cargo forums and other cargo industry bodies as required.
  • Develop Customer relationships from an Operational perspective to support the commercial effort.
  • To be responsible for performance management and development of the operational team based at FRA.
  • Effective collaboration with the Works Council to ensure an effective working relationship with its representatives and members.
  • Support and embrace the different employee recognition programs (eg: Award of Excellence & Shine).
  • Be an inspirational leader, and a role model with all behaviours and actions.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years cargo experience with a major airline, five of which should have been in a cargo environment, ideally encompassing a range of functions including operations, safety, and quality.
  • A minimum of five years direct team management experience.
  • Experience and track record leading, motivating, and coaching a team.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Results focused.
  • Strong influencing, leadership and coaching/development skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assess, calibrate and take calculated risks.
  • Significant experience of setting and managing targets, and demonstrating corrective actions as required.
  • Computer literate – proficient in MS applications (PPT, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to understand and work within different cultures/environments.
  • Well established multi-national and local customer relationships within the territory.
  • Excellent knowledge of European regional cargo operational standards, practices, and conventions.
  • Ability to communicate at a broad range of levels.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
