Reports: Head of IOC Transformation

Departments: IOC - Integrated Operations Centre


The Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) integrates a broad spectrum of flight operations, relevant decision making and problem-solving activities to maintain schedule regularity, balance the priorities of all frontline sections and recover the schedule after disruptions in the best interests of the customers, company and staff.

The Senior Product Owner will play a key role in the business transformation of the Cathay IOC, and lead the development & delivery of multiple innovative products to improve the airline operational performance.

This role will have unique opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team such as the airline’s IT and data science teams, multiple business units, consultants, specialized vendors, alongside with team members with extensive experience of the airline operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including vendors, internal IT and key business stakeholders to support a high-profile transformation initiative.
  • Act as the focal point for overseeing the implementation, management and continuous development of a set of products related to airline disruption management and delivering operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmap, timeline and milestones of multiple airline operations products
  • Prioritize product features and requirements to deliver business objectives and operational requirements, also taking into consideration the end-user feedback
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the product is delivered on time and within budget
  • Manage the product backlog and ensure that it is up-to-date and prioritized
  • Contribute to innovation, engage airline ops industry and technology players to help identify and trial innovative solutions
  • Conduct interviews and workshops with relevant business units and stakeholders to lead or facilitate business process reengineering conversations
  • Act as a liaison between the development team, end-users and senior managers from various business units to ensure alignment on product objectives, releases and features



  • The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:
  • Experience in airline operations and/or with airline operation systems
  • Experience as product manager / product owner, having built digital tools from concept to a working product
  • Strong business acumen and ability to deep dive quickly into a new business domain.
  • Experience working with optimizers (operations research) and AI
  • Experience working in an Agile / Scaled Agile initiatives
  • Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
