Reporting to the Manager of Cargo Communications and Product Marketing, this role will have direct contribution on all business development and commercial aspects of Air Canada Cargo’s products and solutions. This extends from increasing the profitability and growth of existing products to developing new products for the branch. The Manager of Cargo Products and Solutions will build, maintain and market products and solutions and help to develop new ideas using industry trends, customer needs and through identifying business growth opportunities. As the product owner, this role will be responsible for building relationships and leveraging opportunities with established customers, prospects and industry bodies. 
 
Responsibilities    
  • Responsible to develop, manage and contribute to the overall strategic business plan to drive customer acquisition, drive revenue generation and increase customer loyalty through the management and implementation of specialized cargo products and solutions.
  • Manage Air Canada Cargo’s product portfolio lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Identify revenue opportunities with a focus on market opportunity identification (especially in emerging markets and those where we are underrepresented), by gaining insight into where RFPs are being developed. 
  • Identify market opportunities through market research (including competitive reviews, focus groups, meetings and surveys) and ensure compliance with industry best practices by attending key trade events, customer meetings.
  • Develop and implement a go-to-market plan, including pricing strategies and revenue objectives, working in close collaboration with Sales and Marketing.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Cargo Process, Procedures and Engineering groups as well as with the operations to ensure product delivery and service compliance and excellence.
  • Work closely with regional sales groups and industry associations, trade bodies and specialized industry experts to build strategic relationships and to identify future requirements and potential challenges that may have an impact on customer service standards. 
  • Explore technological advancements with the intention of long-term deployment to improve product delivery and messaging solutions, such as integrating the use of RFID technology.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert and sales support for Air Canada Cargo’s product offerings, attending and presenting at key customer meetings, industry events and industry panels.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate business degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of the air cargo, transportation or logistics business
  • Track record in successful strategy development, solution design, program delivery and service management, across multiple business lines
  • In-depth knowledge of business concepts associated with legal contract writing and interpretation, including contract mechanics and structure
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strategic mindset with strong commercial/business acumen
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to data mine and drive direction with key partners as well as analyze data and general industry information
  • Results-oriented, with an ability to measure and prove ROI
  • Key partner development – strategic and consultative approach
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to travel up to 40%, including internationally
  • Proficiency with applications such as the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce CRM and BI tools
