Job description

We are currently hiring a Lead Apprenticeship Standards Assessor & Verifier (LASA) for our Resource Training Solutions (RTS) division based in Kemble.This position will report to the Apprentice Centre Manager.

 

Responsibilities

In addition to the functions detailed below, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.  In addition, key objectives and targets will be set/established and agreed on appointment.  Responsibilities include:

  • The day to day supervision and tasking of RTS Apprenticeship Standards Assessors, to meet company requirements. 
  • Ensuring all evidence requirements within the Apprenticeship Standards have been appropriately met and correctly verified by the Apprenticeship Standards Assessors, and initiate the final sign off with Awarding Organisations. 
  • Prepare and supply RTS management with monthly Foundation and Development Phase progress reports and data, ensuring all apprenticeship progress concerns are reported in a timely manner. 
  • Lead progress review interviews with learners and employers. 
  • Ensure apprentice progression is maintained on the current e-portfolio and support the continuing development of the e-portfolio system and other data sources used within the organisation to map apprenticeship progress. 
  • Ensure the reporting of Foundation and Development Phase completions to the Apprenticeship Services Administrator for claims and ILR data updates.
  • Ensure the centre meets its timely success rates to at least national standards
  • Work with the RTS management to improve the assessment experience and the delivery of training and assessment within the Apprenticeship Programme. 
  • Assist the Learning Support Officer with activity days to support the development of apprentices.  
  • Contribute to the induction stage of any apprenticeship programme, ensuring apprentices receive the level of information, advice or guidance on the selected standard and any associated qualifications. 
  • Manage monthly standardisation meetings, ensuring all continuous improvement suggestions are recorded, reviewed and actioned in a timely manner. 
  • Manage professional relationship(s) with awarding organisation(s) and their External Verifier(s). 
  • Prepare for and manage EQA centre visits.
  • Manage an assessment caseload of approximately 10 apprentices, in order to maintain own assessor competency. 
  • Work alongside the Apprentice Centre Manager and awarding organisations with preparations for investigations/interviews that may be required from time to time. 
  • Complete annual appraisals for assessment staff ensuring realistic and achievable goals, targets and CPD activities are set and met throughout the academic year.
  • Carry out the full range of verification activities including assessor observations, site visits etc. and prepare reports for external audit inspection.
  • Ensure they and the assessment team follow all company processes, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years work-based learning experience more recently gained within the delivery of Apprentice Standards. 
  • Evidence of assessment and verification CPD with the last 12 months. Assessor and internal verifier qualifications, e.g. D32 + D33 + D34; A1 + V1; IQA; TAQA. 
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Apprenticeship Awarding body Standards. 
  • A recognised engineering qualification, and/or experienced in aviation maintenance Supervisory or management experience.
  • Ability to achieve Enhanced DBS. 
  • Willingness to travel and work at various times to suit planned assessment/verification activities.
